As Evan ran down the corridor towards the gym department, he realised that he’d forgotten to get rid of the note he was carrying. He absentmindedly slipped it through the grate of the locker closest to him, and got back on his way towards practice.
A few minutes later the owner of the locker, Caleb, arrived at the locker to pick up his swimming kit for swim team practice after school, being delayed slightly by being assigned extra homework by his Geography teacher. He wasn’t the greatest swimmer around, with his average body, but the team was happy to have him helping them out nevertheless. Caleb opened up his locker, and found the note sitting neatly on top of his towel. He sighed, this not being the first time he’d been left strange notes in his locker, but he quickly realised this one was different. It was more like a... questionnaire? Caleb was interested, and quickly got his pen out of his pocket to try it out. After all, he did love doing those personality quizzes online.
‘Dear Caleb,’
What? This was written just for him? Now he was really getting into this.
‘What will you be when you grow up? Fill out these questions, and find out...
1. When You Grow Up... What kind of activities will you enjoy?’
Caleb was a bit confused at this. Was it asking what he would ideally like to be in the future? Well, it wouldn’t hurt to have a bit of fun with it.
“When I grow up, I will enjoy swimming, water polo, diving, and surfing,” he wrote, grinning. “I will be on the national swimming team, and be one of the best swimmers in the country.” As he finished the sentence and scanned the next question, he failed to notice his plain t-shirt and jeans change into an official Team USA jacket, and his legs become completely exposed in his high-tech jammers.
‘2. When You Grow Up... Who will you be dating (if anyone)?’
Caleb immediately knew what to put for this. “When I grow up, my boyfriend will be Michael Phelps.” He always found him hot, and Caleb thought he might as well if he was going to be the star of the national swimming team.
‘3. When You Grow Up... What will your name be?’
‘I get a new name as well?’ thought Caleb, simply writing down “Rory” without much thought.
‘4. When You Grow Up... Wait, how old will you be? How tall will you be?’
Wow, he got to change his body as well? Rory smirked, after all, he was going to be a star swimmer so he needed the body to match. “When I grow up I will be 27 years old and be 6 foot 2. I will be very muscular but still lean, and my best features will be my legs and chest.” As soon as he wrote this, his mind went blank as he felt himself growing, and as he regained consciousness he quickly looked at himself in the mirror.
Oh yeah, hot as always. That perfect face, that chiselled chin, not to mention his body and what he was packing underneath that famously straining swimsuit. Of course, Rory couldn’t be admiring himself all day, he had to finish off this questionnaire.
‘5. Where's your family from?’
What kind of question was that? Easy peasy, “Australia.” Rory moved over to the US when he was little, but he never lost that lovable Aussie twang.
‘Pass this note on to someone else before the end of the day to have a good life.’
As far as Rory was concerned, he already had a pretty good life, but he obliged anyway and left for the training pool that he, the rest of the squad, and his boyfriend Michael Phelps of course, were training at, looking out for any opportunity to give the note away.
