The journey to Mary Elise's house took her past Katie and Lisa's house. While she was less than thrilled about running into the two of them after what happened there was a benefit, Jason Turner.
Jason was Lisa's boyfriend and the guy Mary Elise had the biggest crush on. Jason had always treated Mary Elise very kindly as the two of them were lab partners in science class. Although everyone thought that Sebastian was her boyfriend the truth was she thought of him more like a brother. While the two had been on dates and even kissed they both realized they were better off as friends. The fact that Jason was Lisa's boyfriend added to the animosity between the two red heads.
Anxiously walking through the neighborhood, Mary Elise smiled as she noticed Jason playing basketball with his friend Eric in the front yard. As the handsome brunette teen turned he smiled and waved in Mary Elise's direction. Smiling shyly Mary Elise waved back. Checking to make sure Lisa wasnt around she now made her way towards Jason's house.
"Hi Jason," she said shyly. "Hows everything?" Jason smiled, wiping his brow. "I'm doing alright Mary how about yourself."
Mary shrugged, turning her eyes away from her crush. "Okay I suppose," she said timidly. Jason gave the girl a critical yet friendly look before answering. "I heard you and Lisa got in a fight again," he said solemnly.
Mary Elise felt her face flush red as she stammered a response. "It...it was nothing just...just stupid girl stuff ya know."
Sighing Jason placed his hand on the shy girls shoulder, causing her heart to skip a beat. "You know I've never understood why you two dont get along," he sighed. "I mean I know Lisa can be a bit overbearing at times but if you get to kniw her shes a real sweetheart. You two should just sit down and work this all out. Im sure once you clear the air you two would find you have alot in common."
While Mary Elise doubtes this she smiled, thanking Jason for his concern and saying she would try. As she longingly gazed at the handsome teen she could hear his friend begin to yell for him. "Yo Jay," Eric bellowed. "You done talking with Misery yet? We got a game to finish."
Jason and Mary Elise winced at the nickname as they looked back at the dark haired boy. "Dude," Jason yelled. "I told you to knock off the Misery stuff. Mary's cool okay."
Eric shrugged as Jason now turned to apologize to a clearly upset Mary Elise. "Sorry," he said sheepishly. "Eric really doesnt have a filter between his brain and hia mouth."
"He's a jackass," Mary Elise mumbled causing Jason to smirk. As Mary Elise uttered those words she felt an odd tingle course throigh her body. Looking down at the ring she could see it glow ever so slightly.
"Dude will you just hurry up already its game HAWWW," Jason and Mary Elise turned curiously to look at Eric, shocked by what they saw.
Eric was attempting to speak now, only to find that the only sound coming from his mouth was the bray of a mule. As the teen now looked at the two he could see them gape in astonishment. Erics ears slowly began to elongate, teansforming into the ears of a mule. Horrified the teen grabbed at his long ears, braying in alarm.
Eric continued to bray as he held his hands out for assistance. As he was doing so he watched as he hands slowly began to curl into a fist. No matter how hard the teen tried he was umable to unclench them. Eric watched as his fingers began to fuse together, changing color and becoming hooves.
Wobbling unsteadily Eric gave the two a pkeading look as he doubled over and stood on all fours. Braying in a frightened manor Eric felt his face begin to expand. His mouth and nose began elongate into a muzzle as his facial features necame more animalistic. Soon, instead of a teenage face, Eric possessed the face of a mule.
The last of Eric's humanity began to disappear as soft, grey hair began to cover his entire body. Eric thrashed wildly kicking with his hind legs. The teen was horrified by his transformation and his inability to voice what was happening to him. In his thrashing Eric tore through the clothing on his body. Erics shoes were kicked away, revealing that his feet had transformed into hooves while his shorts ripped revealing a long donkey tail.
"What the," Jason stammered, staring at his transformed friend. Jason now turned to speak to Mary Elise, only to find the girl was sprinting away from the scene.
Mary Elise ran as fast as she could back to her home. Although unsure how she realized that SHE had transformed Eric from a teenage boy into a donkey. Racimg up her front steps Mary Elise flumg open the front door and raced into her room. Slamming the door behind her the terrified girl stared down at rhe rinh on her finger.
"I..I..did that," she stammered, shocked by the magic she had performed. Sinking to the floor Mary Elise buried her face in her hands, trying to decide what to do. She had no practical experience with this ttpe of thing. She needed to decide if she should call her friends or call those who knew about magical items.
