Mary Elise fumbled for her cellphone as she anxiously scrolled through her contacts. Although she realized she would need to call Kellie or Katie for advise soon, she wanted to call a friend first. Finally finding her friend Karen Mary Elise now shakily dialed her number. Karen answered after a few rings asking if Mary Elise was okay. “I’m not okay Karen,” Mary Elise cried. “Please I need your help now.”
Karen quickly agreed hanging up her phone. Mary Elise now nervously paced in her room, waiting for her friend to arrive. Karen ran up to Mary Elise’s room after 20 minutes much to Mary Elise’s relief. As the shy dark haired girl now tried to catch her breath she stared at her friend nervously. “Mary what’s wrong,” she asked, pushing her glasses up her nose. “I pretty much sprinted here from home. That’s not exactly easy you know, not the worlds greatest athlete over here.”
“Karen,” Mary Elise exclaimed. “Something....something really weird happened and I think this ring had something to do with it.” Karen gave her friend a curious look as Mary Elise explained what happened. Mary Elise now told Karen about what had happened it’s Eric. Karen nodded in understanding, gasping as Mary Elise explained how she believed she transformed Eric into a donkey. “Mary,” she whispered. “That...that is just nuts. Are you sure you had something to do with it?”
Mary Elise nodded fearfully as held her ring out. “Yeah I’m pretty sure,” she whispered. “When...when Eric changed the ring...it..it kind of told me it was responsible. I...I called him a jackass and he Well...turned into one.” Karen nodded thoughtfully as she rubbed her chin. “Have you tried changing him back?”
Mary Elise stared dumbfounded at her friend before timidly shaking her head. “Well maybe you should try,” she sighed. Mary Elise nodded as she now wished for Eric to become human once more. Karen and Mary Elise now watched as the ring glowed. Gasping in shock the two girls looked at each other as the ring now returned to normal. “Whoa,” they gasped.
Although neither girl was present Mary Elise could feel that Eric had returned to normal.Sighing in relief Mary Elise now hugged her friend. “Thanks Karen,” she sighed. “I was so freaked out I didn’t even think off that.”
“Don’t mention it Mary,” Karen said warmly. “Still, people are going to freak out about this. You know Jason will tell
Lisa. After that I’m pretty sure her sister and her friends are going to come asking you a bunch of questions.” Mary Elise nodded sadly. After everything that had happened she had no desire to run into any of them, especially if magic was involved. “Yeah that’s not going to go well especially with what went on today.”
“What happened today,” Karen asked.
Mary Elise sighed as she now told about everything she had learned about Kellie, Katie and their friends. Karen stared in astonishment as Mary Elise told her about the girls magic and Kellie being from an alternate timeline. “Mary that’s incredible,” she said breathlessly. “And your telling me that they can actually perform magic? Real magic!” Mary Elise nodded sadly as she looked at Karen. “Yeah Karen,” she said solemnly. “They can. I’m...im a little scared of what they might do if they find out about this ring. We...we haven’t gotten along that well.”
“Mary,” Karen said sweetly. “Listen I’m not sure exactly what is up with you and them but they have more experience with this kind of thing. Let me try and talk with them, hopefully I can kind of bridge the gap.”
“I don’t Karen,” Mary Elise shyly. “What if they try to take the ring, what if they blame me for what happened to Eric, what if they try to hurt us?”
“Mary I won’t let anything happen to you,” she said. “I just need you to trust me. I won’t let anything happen to you but if your still not comfortable we can come up with another idea.” Mary Elise now rubbed her chin 5pughtfully as she tried to think of her next move.
