The place seems pretty overgrown, like no one has taken care of it in ages. There is a faint path which isn't completely covered by grass, but on either side the undergrowth is rather high, and the trees are untrimmed. There is a fairly good amount of fallen leaves as well, almost like an unkept forest. Curious, you decide to follow the path. It's not like your town to allow a perfectly good park to fall to pieces like this; usually everything from the lawns to the shrubbery were perfectly manicured thanks to homeowners associations and the like.
It's a little late in the day, and as you walk down the vague path, you realize it is quickly getting darker due to the thick tree cover. Although you are still curious, you decide to turn around and head back. However, in the failing light, you can't really make out the path, and you've definitely come too far in to see the wall. Sighing, you decide to rely on your internal sense of direction, and began trekking back towards where you assume the gates are. You figure that even if you do not fine the gate, you should hit the wall eventually, at which point all you have to do is follow it.
However, a walk in the woods can be a funny thing. A slight curve in your path to avoid a tree can be greater than you realized. It's quickly getting darker, and you unwittingly pick up your pace in a nervous eagerness to get back to civilization. In your haste, your foot catches on something, and you tumble to the ground.
"Ow..." you mumble to yourself, then turn to see what you tripped over. It's a stone, but somewhat large and flat, almost like a tile. But it's not flat, there's something on the surface. Squinting in the twilight, you brush the leaves off and see something etched which looks like writing: "Here lies..."
You scramble backwards immediately. That's no stone, it's a tomb marker! No wonder no one else is in the "park;" it's not a park, it's a cemetery! Looking around wildly in the near dark, you cannot see any sign of the path or the wall, but here and there in the undergrowth are strange stones sticking up. In an attempt to stall your panic, you shake your head to try to get rid of thoughts of spending the night alone in an abandoned cemetery. That's when you see it, out of the corner of your eye: a large shadowy shape of a building in the distance.
