The building thrill for summer vacation was palpable everywhere in Lyre and Animalia. Especially now that the schools have finished their last week. The senior classes may have already graduated, but the under-classmen weren't finished yet. There was still quite a bit of schoolwork left for them, namely final exams.
The difficulties of the exams tended to vary per class and subject. There were many who faced the exams with dread. A few of the uplifted have been heard remarking that they wished they were still dumb animals so they wouldn't have to take these tests. The schools showed at least a little mercy here. Students with high-enough grades in particular classes were not required to take exams, but there were some that were mandatory.
But still, the exams were finally over and while not everyone was an honor roll student, no one did bad enough that they would have to repeat a year. Now they had three months before they had to worry about school again. The faculty was also grateful for school to end as they now had time for themselves. Anton and Marlysa were planning on going to Mieni Atoll after the A-BC. Eliza still needed to see to a few things, such as the reintegration of WSA and the Lyre School District, as well as oversee the acid-washing of couples' names from the co-ed showers. But after that, she was looking forward to her camping trip with Beth and her family.
But the students most excited for the school year to be over were Animalia Ambassadoria. They were really excited to be traveling abroad to showcase all the colonies, particularly the newest ones. But the one thing they were eager for most was Sophie and Roland's conversions. It seemed like ages since their parents had given permission for the conversion, provided it was after school was out. But it would definitely be worth it. The long wait has allowed Horizon Labs to get more experience with converting Dinotopians and Sophie and Roland's conversions into Pterodactyls will be a breeze. Also, Project Newrad will be able to facilitate Sophie's pet JC's transformation from an African Grey Parrot to a Microraptor Animalian with greater certainty after they've tested the process with other birds. JC won't be alone either as the donated parrot Pauline will similarly transformed as well. It might be a bit soon to assume that JC and Pauline were going to like each other, but at least JC won't be lonely.
There was a small party before the conversion, mainly to let Sophie and Roland have one last meal before their diets became more restricted. There was certainly going to be a bigger one after they were converted.
