She bobbed up "Hey, that wasn't nice! What the..." she said, noticing the difference in how her legs felt. She then saw the tail extending from her hips. "My legs! I have tail! I didn't even notice! What did you do to me?"
"Well, indirectly, I turned you into a mermaid. Really, though, the bikini you're wearing turned you into a mermaid. It just needed to get soaked to do it. If you recall, mermaids turn into maidens out of the water," I refreshed her memory.
"You're kidding! If I get out of here, I'll return to normal?" she asked, unconvinced.
"That's what I understand. You're a mermaid as long as you wear the bikini, all of it. Somehow your tail has to turn back into legs and the other half of that bikini. I'm not sure if you have to be submerged or not, though," I replied.
Amanda suddenly seemed shocked and sank a little lower in the water, folding her arms across her chest.
"What's the matter?"
"I think you're wrong."
"What do you mean?"
"My bikini top just disappeared. And I don't mean fell off, I mean vanished, gone."
"Oh..." I thought back then realized my exact wording for the wish didn't specify it had to be the entire bikini. "Well, I guess this definitely means mermaids don't wear seashell tops like Ariel did."
"Still sure I can return to normal?"
"Lets find out. I wish Amanda was sitting beside the pool next to where I'm standing." Amanda disappeared from the pool and immediately reappeared next to me on the side of the pool. "I wish Amanda was dry."
Amanda was dry now, but she also still had a tail. "So much for my tail turning back into legs and a bikini. Does this mean I'm stuck like this?"
"I could just wish you back to being human again instead of a mermaid..."
