Jared stopped before trying to dig up the ancient amulet. Did she really want to do this?
It was a strange thought, but perhaps it wasn't so bad being a doe. If she allowed herself to be captured by the zoo, she'd spend the rest of her life in reletive contentment. She wouldn't have to worry about the things that life made you worry about.
Sure, she'd miss out on a lot of things, and the zoo would probebly breed a lot of little deer out of her, but was that so bad?
Jared was feeling more and more comfortable in this body, perhaps as a result of the transformation, but she didn't much care. The idea of being a mother didn't bother her anymore, even though she'd fled from just such a thing only the night before.
But to be able to sleep in the sun, not worry about predetors and her only job would be to pop out fawns? Why not?
With a slight sigh, she turned from the cabin and started walking toward her old human neighborhood. With luck, the zoo people would find her and take her in quickly.
