Marvin groaned as he entered the parking garage. The 60 year old man had taken this security job to supplement his retirement. While the work was relatively easy their were times his body ached, today was one of those days. As the elderly man now made his way through the garage he could hear the sounds of someone crying. Curious the man now slowly made towards the noise.
"What the?"
Marvin gazed into a parked car noticing a young girl sobbing in the front seat. The girl appeared no older than 12. As Marvin looked at her he was confused why the girl seemed to be dressed in such ill fitting clothes. Slowly he now tapped on the window, not wanting to frighten her. "Hello," he asked quietly. "Are you okay kid?"
Wilma jumped, letting out a small shriek as she looked at the elderly guard. She didn't recognize him but realized that their were enough security guards here that it was difficult to know everyone. "Umm I'm okay," she said quickly. "Im...um...waiting..for my mom."
Marvin gave the girl a curious look as he looked her over. Something didn't seem right. He had heard rumors of experimental equipment being tested at the facility. Things that (if he believed the rumors) could change people physically. As he carefully looked her over he took caredyl inventory of the girl.
Wilmas clothing was far too baggy to have been choosen purposely. As he looled in the girls dark eyes he frowned. The girl did look gearful but their was something else. They didn't look like the eyes of a near adolescent, their was an almost adult intelligence behind those eyes. Sighing, Marvin opened the door causing the girl to shrink away from him.
"Listen I'm not going to hurt you," hr said calmly. "Just tell me your name. "
"W..Wilma,"
Marvin nodded, exgaling he now looked anxiously around the parking garage. "Okay Wilma listen," he said quietly. "I'm pretty positive your not a kid and I'm sure its probably because of something here."
Wilam didn't respond just stating off in stunned silence. "Look my shift is over," he said calmly. "I may not know what it is you got into but I do know that if one those scientists find you you'll become some sort of a lab experiment."
Wilma remained silent as the elderly man looked her over. She didn't want to admit it but he had a point. If she was discovered chances were she would end up some eggheads science experiment.
"Listen kid," he said quickly. "I want you to follow me. I'll take you back to my house, my wife and I have plenty of room and wouldn't mind the company. Once their you can tell us what happened."
Wilam looked the elderly man over as he held out his hand. She didn't have alot of options right now. She couldn't get the chronovac to work right now and was way too young to be by herself. Sighing she gathered up her belongings; including the chronovac, taking the elderly mans hand.
As Wilma padded behind Marvin she glanced back at the car. She had wanted to become a mother and now found herself about to becone someones child. Marvin seemed nice enough though, she hoped that in time she would be able to fix this mess.
