As Marvin left, Deanna and "Amanda" now gazed at some photos the couple had of their grandaughter. Amanda rubbed her chin thoughtfully as she looked at the pictures of the happy young girl.
"She seems really happy," she said quietly. Deanna nodded as helped Amanda thumb through the various school photos. "She was a little ball of sunshine," she said sadly. "Anytime she entered the room she always lightened the mood."
Deanna gazed down at Amanda as she thoughtfully looked at the photos. "Do what are you going to do?"
"Well," she stated. "I'm going to use the chronovac to scan these photos to accumulate Amanda's physical characteristics. While I was on the computer I erased all the data in regards to her death. The trick was leaving the accident that ended her and her families life."
Deanna gaped at the young girl, shocked she was able to accomplish this. "Will that actually work?"
"You'd be amazed how well that works," Amanda smirked. "We live in the digital age, most records are electronic meaning if you can alter it electronically people will believe it. "
Deanna nodded as Amanda completed scanning the photos with the chronovac. As the young girl looked at the data she rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "Well it appears that physically I'm a 80% match for your grandaughter," she said. "Thats good but we're going to have to do better."
"So what do we need to change Amanda?"
"Well," she said, rubbing her chin. "Your granddaughters hair was lighter and longer than mine, also her eyes were green while mine are brown. Those small adjustments will probably get us to match up physically. Im just glad we're the same height, I'd hate to make myself even shorter."
"Can you actually amke those kimd of changes," Deanna asked. Amanda nodded, smiling up at the elderly woman. "The chronovac can affect alot more than just age," she smiled. "It can also alter physical traits such as height, weight, muscle size, even hair and eye color. Thats why TransDem is trying to keep it under wraps, the technology is earth shattering."
As Deanna watched she saw Amanda enter a series of commands into the chronivac before pointing it at herself and activating it. Deanna gaped as she gazed at the young girl.
Amanda's hair grew, going from shoulder length to the middle of her back. As it did she noticed it begin to lighten. The dark chocolate brown at first looked like it was catching the light from the window. Slowly though Deanna could see it appeared to glow, transforming from dark chocolate to a sandy brown. Finally she noticed Amandas eyes. The deep brown eyes slowly began to gain color as if they were being bleached. Slowly but surely the green swallowed up the brown, giving the girl beautiful emerald green eyes. As the processed finished Amanda looked down at the chronovac and smiled. "95% match," she smiled. "More than enough to fool anyone into thinking I'm her."
Deanna nodded, still shocked at what she had witnessed. "Thats incredible," she whispered. "If i hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't of believed it."
Amanda gave the elderly woman a toothy grin as she hopped out of her chair and ran to a mirror. "Yeah the chronovac is amazing alright," she chirped.
Sighing the young girl now gazed out the window. "You okay Amanda," Deanna asked.
"Yeah I think so," she sighed. "Its just....well seeing myself like this kind of makes it hit home. The adult me is gone, this is my life now."
"Is that really so bad?"
Amanda shook her head no as she now looked up at Deanna. "No not really," she stated. "Its just alot to take in, that and what I really want to do right now is run around and play. A side effect of being regressed like this. Too bad I dont have anyone to play with."
Deanna smirked impishly as she now pucked up the chronovac. "Well lets see if we can change that," she smirked.
