Edwin read through all the tutorials, and options that he found in the Chronivac Program. So many rules, he'd have to pay careful attention to permanent versus temporary, and watch the time settings or a short term change might effectively be permanent if instead of 40 minutes, he selected 40 years. Almost all the menus were pull down with defaults, so if he left something blank, it would be filled in with the default setting.
He read through the section on body modifications. Then animal transformations. He was intrigued about partial transformations. He could make himself some sort of chimera if he liked, part human, but with animal features like wings or a fish tail or hung like a donkey. He giggled at the thought of all those mods at once. He went on to the weirdest and scariest transformations of all - inanimate. He wouldn't mind turning some of the jerks he knew into obedient robots, or even a few into statues (they looked hot, but had they were emptied headed jerks already). He went back to check body modifications, there was a section on mental. Hm, he could upgrade the dumb jerks, and make them intelligent and sensitive too. And they wouldn't even know that they changed, or maybe they would know it, but no one else would? Good grief so many possibilities.
Edwin yawned, and looked at the clock it was after 1 am. He needed to sleep. He wanted to be fully awake when he took the Chronivac for a test ride. He got up from the Chronivac, but he didn't shut it down. He rolled into bed pushing his dog out of the way.
"Move over, Rover," he said softly with a yawn, "And make room for me."
Rover moved over, but he was now awake. He raised his head and looked around, even as his master slept. The flashing screen of the Chronivac attracted Rover's attention. He jumped off the bed and climbed up on Edwin's chair with his paws next to the keyboard.
There were four subjects on the screen. Each one flashed with a bright white frame for a few seconds, while the notification on the screen said, "Select first transformation subject. These subjects are in range:"
The first rectangle displayed "SUBJECT ONE: EDWIN DIAS (Human)". The second rectangle displayed: "SUBJECT TWO: ROVER (Dog)". The third rectangle displayed: "SUBJECT THREE: HECTOR DIAS (Human)." The fourth rectangle displayed: "SUBJECT FOUR JULIET DIAS (Human)".
Rover moved its paw and selected a subject. The Chronivac proceeded to ask questions, but if Rover didn't select something, it automatically populated with the default. Soon the Chronivac was whirring, as it prepared to modify one of the subjects.
