While the original intention for Project Chimera was to create mythical creatures like the namesake for the project, it was scrapped due to the fact that it simply, "didn't work that way", to put it in easy-to-understand terms. But with the discovery of a female caecilian, two aye-ayes, and two leucitic lionesses amongst a drug lord's menagerie, Project Chimera was rebooted with new plans, which mainly involved animals so weird looking that many of them were thought to be mythical or were thought to be bringers of ill-fortune.
One unique case helped them open up Project Chimera to some unique animals that were submitted to other projects.
One case was Cammy, who was a female Doberman with a rare genetic condition that caused her to be double muscled, similar to the Belgian blue bull Animalians before they were uplifted. She was originally being admitted into Project Phoenix because her genetic "defect" had started taking it out on her heart after she was two years old. But what really surprised everyone was that she was, after uplifting, proportionally as strong as the Belgian blues. While this got her a job in a moving company, this did lead to problems that were expected by now, such as accidently ripping off doors or drawers. While Marvin and Stuart were still down that one of the poodles they were planning to charm was now off-limits, Cammy was able to lift them out of the dumps, both figuratively and literally. Once you got past her size and strength, she was actually quite kind.
Another thing that was part of Project Chimera was the discovery of a young male Potto in tropical Africa suffering from Zika Fever. While many people consider pottos to be made up due to things like Professor Potto's Videolab, Wikipedia did confirm that they did exist in the range where the potto with Zika Fever was found. After it was sent to Maelewano, which was closest, for treatment, they decided to uplift it as part of Project Chimera. Afterwards, after some acclimation classes, the potto, which decided to take the first name Zeno, was just as smart as an average high school graduate, So they decided to allow him to take online college courses in teaching so he could be the elementary school science teacher that everyone (at least young children) assumed him to be.

Another relatively new project was started due to the popularity of one "dinosaur" that actually predated them by several million years. While the Dimetrodon, a.k.a. Dimetrodon Grandis, was often shown in old dinosaur movies and cartoons.
