Mad Science

A Quacking Good Time

As the sun reached its peak, so did the party with nearly everybody in the water either playing with beach balls, swimming around, or just drunkenly splashing each other, but everyone having a blast.

It was at this point that the changes started becoming more apparent to their forms, though the strange reaction of the alcohol and the drunkenness of the party goers left anything but panicked reactions.

On one side, there was a group of college students who were playing casual water polo with a beach ball. None of them even noticed the fact that their bodies began to feel much sleeker as duck feathers began to sprout all over their bodies. Oddly enough, their fingers and arms began to elongate, resembling a mix between a human arm and a feathered wing, but it did nothing to hinder the passing of the beach ball to others.

In another area, there were a few who decided to have their fun by swimming casually and competitively with each other. What they didn't realize is that at one point they stopped using their arms to swim, instead opting to use their legs to paddle themselves. What they didn't see were the changes taking place under the surface of the water, their feet flattening out into webbed talons more suited for paddling. Not seeing a use for their growing wing arms, the group of swimmers instinctively tucked them under their pits as they positioned their bodies straight up, creating a bizarre sight of human ducks swimming upright as they occasionally flapped their tucked in arms.

And with another group of college students near the shore were the ones who had decided to drink first then play, creating a bunch of drunk young adults giggling stupidly as they splashed and thrashed in the water. One of the girls looked at her friend, catching sight of her lips becoming orange and slowly pushing outwards.

"Hah hah! Michelle, you look like a total duck with those lips!" she laughed out loud, unaware that her own were starting to take on a yellowish hue. The girl Michelle looked at her with a dopey smile in confusion, reaching up to touch her growing lips that felt a bit stiffer but still malleable. Rather than becoming shocked by the new sensation, she simply giggled stupidly as she looked at her friend.

"You're one to talk! Yours are all yellow and stuff, Cindy!" Michelle retorted, pointing at her friend's growing lips. Like Michelle, Cindy simply giggled before letting out a noise a human would not have made.

"Well *QUACK* Michelle! I'll have you know I like the color yellow! And itsh called a bill you dummy!" Cindy snapped back, almost tipping over into the water due to her unsteadiness.

"Hey *QUACK* Even I knew that, girl! How else do you think I make theshe awesome duckface shelfies?" she managed to slur out, pursing her bill to create a typical duckface as white feathers began to cover her face.

By the time a few hours rolled by, the lake was now occupied by a flock of duck people of the Mallard and Pekin variety. All of them were still partying away, unaware of the changes that had befallen upon them. Feathers flew about as they played, swam and quacked, feathered tails either pushing off swimwear or ripping holes through them, and all the beady black eyes that had moved a bit further away to their sides blissfully oblivious to their previous human nature.

Those that came out of the water revealed their newly transformed bodies: in addition to their wing arms, feathers, bills, beady black eyes, and webbed feet, their thighs and abdomens seem to have swelled out a bit more, creating adorable, soft muffin tops. Their lower legs have also changed, becoming stiffer and digitigrade, causing all of them to waddle along with their feathery rears. And of course, their speech was riddled with quacks, though their english had become a bit bird-brained at this point.
