Dina was a bit worried now that she had seen what happened to Mary, and she wasn't sure whether she should put down any cards at all. Instead, she decided to roll the dice.
She then moved her token seven spaces like the dice said to, and looked at the board. She looked at the display. It said, "You have run into a giant bear! Do you want to 1) flee 2) fight?".
Dina thought about it, and then decided that she wanted to flee. Not sure how to do that, she looked at the game instructions. The instructions said that whenever the display gave the player a choice, the player had to choose by tapping the corresponding number on the display. So Dina carefully touched the number "1" on the display.
For a moment, nothing happened. Then the display changed. "You try to run. You are not quick enough! The bear attacks you and you are hurt!"
Lines suddenly appeared on Dina's token, across the token's stomach. Suddenly, Dina felt great pain. She gasped, and then the pain slowly stopped. She looked at the board again.
"Do you want to 1) flee 2) fight?"
Dina didn't like the idea of fighting the bear which had appeared on the board. It looked twice her token's height. But if she did not, she might get hurt worse. There was a small amount of blood dripping from her midriff. She didn't like the idea of more of that.
Just as she was about to give in and try fighting again, Lissi said: "Wait, Dina! Maybe this card will help you escape from the bear." And as she said that, she put down a card labelled "SPECIAL: Stop fight". Lissi read the rest of the card out loud: "When this card is played on someone, that person will not be attacked by large creatures, and the person will gain agility. However, the person will lose strength and speed."
Dina said "Are you sure that's a good idea?"
Lissi said, "It's too late now, I've put the card down. Besides, Mary's card showed a half-cat person on it, but the one I put down is just a picture of a normal person standing on a rock. It won't hurt you!"
Dina looked at the board. The display read, "The bear loses interest in you and leaves." The bear token disappeared from the board.
Dina said, "Shouldn't something be happening to my token to show the change?"
Lissi said, "I told you, nothing is happening to you."
As Dina and Lissi talked, Bob noticed something. "Dina! You're sinking into your chair!"
Everyone moved around to look, but Dina was sitting on her chair like normal. She stood up, and immediately noticed something was wrong. She was around Mary's height, but now her head only came up to Mary's neck.
Ryan stated the obvious first. "Dina, I think you're shrinking!"
"Really?" said Dina sarcastically, noticing that her clothing was starting to become baggy. "What happens if I don't stop shrinking soon?" she asked. "I might get stuck in my clothes!"
As she said this, she hopped out of the shoes she was wearing with ease. Her eyes were only as high as the edge of the table now (which was about a metre and a half tall).
Mary moved towards Dina, but lost balance on her new legs and crashed into Dina. Dina was so small now that the force of this sent her flying backwards. Stripping frantically, she said "I really think we shouldn't have started playing this game!"
"It's probably too late for that," said Bob. "If we don't finish, you might be stuck like this forever!"
Dina had shrunk to the height of about half a metre now, and it didn't look as if she would be stopping. "Well, I don't think that I'll be able to roll the dice at this rate," she said, with a hysterical note in her voice. "My god, I'm as tall as your knees! Can't you stop this?"
Casting off the last of her clothing (most of which was far larger than her), Dina was nude, beautiful as ever, and about as high as Mary's ankle. Thankfully, the shrinking stopped then. Everyone exhaled in relief except Dina.
"You might think that's good, but I'm not even going to be able to see what's going on!" screamed Dina, although at her size, it was still quite hard for the others to hear her.
Lissi knelt down and said, "Climb onto my palm. I'll put you onto the table so that you can see."
Dina looked up at the table, which seemed to be 10 storeys high from her view. "No way am I doing that. What if I fall off? I could get killed!"
Mary, tired of listening to all this, bent down and grasped Dina firmly. Dina yelled and screamed, but at her size, she couldn't stop Mary's paw-like hands from placing her onto the table. As soon as Mary let go, Dina walked over to the edge and looked down. Suddenly scared by the height, she ran to the edge of the board, as far from the edge as possible. She suddenly had a thought.
"How am I going to look at my cards? They're giant!" She realised she was wrong, however, when she picked up one of the cards with ease. "Oh my, how light are these?" she asked.
"Must be quite light," said Ryan, returning to his seat like everyone else. Only as he sat down did he realise. "Oh shit, it's my turn next, isn't it?"
