Sophie looked at the mimic out of fear at what it was and how it was able to keep her body out of hear control. Fear was beginning to grow in her while Dale ran over in desperation to stop it.
"I'm scared Dale please get here."
"Don't worry Sophie."
What happened though was what felt like an invisible wall between her and Dale as Dale was stuck from getting closer to the mimic.
"WTF. I can't get closer Sophie. I'm blocked off."
"What!!!"
The mimic on the other hand was now beginning to have its fun. It started to twirl and dance similar to a ballerina. Sophie followed almost to an exact copy of the mimic which further terrified her as she was completely helpless.
Many minutes passed as the mimic and Sophie continued there dance. Dale just was off trying to find a way to Sophie. Dale eventually came up with the idea of throwing a rock from behind to mimic thinking it could work. As Dale got into position, that's when things went South in a stranger sense.
Sophie was beginning to look like she actually was the one enjoying the dance, smiling in satisfaction but focusing on each movement. It looked more like she was the one in control and not the other way round. That wasn't even the strangest part as Sophie looked like she was getting younger while her clothing was beginning to look like a set of pink leotard, tutu and tights.
Sophie took about 5 minutes to completely go from a 20 or so woman to a 9 year old ballerina. Dale just stood there dumbfounded at what he witnessed still holding the rock he was planning to throw.
Eventually snapping out of his trance, Dale approached the mimic prepared the attack it but the he stopped. The mimic held a finger up to Dale to stop him and silently say 'wait'. The mimic approached the new ballerina Sophie and unexpectedly spoke.
"Little ballerina Sophie, it's almost time for your performance." A strange mix of both a young boy and old man mixed to create the voice
"Your right little bear. I need to be off. Thanks for spending time with me." A younger and giddier voice of Sophie chirped.
Dale watched as Sophie left the cave and down to the nearby town, ready for her performance. The mimic then turned and looked up to Dale.
"Your gonna ask why I did that aren't you." The mimic spoke with a little aggravation in his words
"I am. So why did you, and better yet who are you." Dale questioned slightly angrily
"I'm the mimic. A strange creature really and before you say, I don't do this out of malice. I'm just the mimic that does this to people who try making me copy there movements. This is all I've known and what I do. All of it being Down to a curse from long ago. I could do the same to you if you want." Trying to sound slight positive, the mimic tried joking
"First off no. Second, what happens to Sophie now due to her change." Dale still slightly angry
"Oh. I have a special friend that lives down in the town. He deals with reality and the memories so only him, me and because your in the cave, you also keep your memories of her."
"Can you return her back."
"Nope. No can do. She pretty much has experienced a mind death and a new mind took her place. I could try to return her but she won't be the same Sophie you knew so I'm not going to." Sounding slightly regretful at the fact.
"Well. That's shit. I don't really know what to do now as sophie kinda was the only thing I looked forward to in life. I'm gonna go, no point hanging around here as there's nothing left to discuss." Dale turned to leave as tears started to form in his eyes.
"Good luck Dale. I'm actually sorry about this. I said a while ago it's down to a curse so I want to repay you in any way I van but I can't." The mimic tried to sound comforting
"It's fine. Bye."
