Have you ever lived in a flat with someone of the opposite sex?
It's a lot more common than you think. But for two particular flatmates, things were about to become a whole lot more weird.
That said however, things were already strange enough for Nathan Harvey. In Cardiff Bay, the former student-actor finally captured a glimpse of hope for his struggling career. A few short few miles down the road from his flat, a new film studio had just opened. And a budding new production company was hiring actors for a new television show. Nathan was the first in line for auditions. Although he was unsuccessful in acquiring the lead role, he still managed to obtain a significant role in the production.
But it was not anywhere near what he expected.
The twenty-seven year old was hesitant to take the role at first. But he realized that this could be the break he desperately needed, a chance to earn some form of income since his unemployment if nothing else. So he decided to accept the offer and brace for what was about to be a complete alteration of his entire life.
But what was this life-changing role?
That's what he was about to tell his flatmate.
Because of his ambition to become an actor, Nathan succumbed to unemployment about a year ago. And in order to afford the rent for his flat, he had no choice but to take in a flatmate.
That's when Laura Brooklyn stepped into the scene.
The two had known each other since their college years, but they weren't exactly the closest of friends. While Nathan focused on being a serious actor, Laura was the type of party girl who'd be the first of her friends to hit the dance floor. They never really spent time together outside their old drama classes in college. But since all their other friends had moved on with their lives, it wasn't entirely unexpected that the only two people from college not to have their own families would wind up living together.
The thought of living with a female flatmate was bizarre enough for Nathan at first, especially a female as outgoing and spontaneous as Laura. But what he was about to tell her was going to make both of their lives much more interesting to say the least.
Needless to say, upon hearing his description of the role, she was gobsmacked.
"I don't get it," she sighed, still trying her best to understand the situation. "Run that by me again."
"How many times do I have to tell you," Nathan snapped. He was used to his flatmate's confusion, but it still aggravated him. "I'm gonna be in the new show they're shooting in the studio down the road. This is the break I needed. This is the break we needed. This could get us out of debt for the next five years."
"Yeah..." Laura tilted her head as she stumbled over her next few words. "...but...as ..."
