"I'm not sure", Emily replied, "I've never given it a thought, to be honest with you... ...can you recommend something for the beginning?" Emily glanced at a collection of rings on a tray on the table next to the woman.
"Ah these rings have sparked your interest, I see", the woman said, "I wonder whether...", she stopped mid-sentence and looked Emily deep into her eyes. After a short pause she went on. "...no, these are not for you. You are a different kind of person." She went to a dusty shelf behind the counter, took something from there, came back with a little necklace of some sort and presented it to Emily. "Here you are, my dear. It's yours for only 100 quid - has been laying there for ages, you know, quite interesting thing but not asked for very often."
Emily carefully took it and gave it a good look. The necklace itself looked rather ordinary, just like one of the cheap things you can buy in every larger supermarket. It held a single ornament - a greenish stone - into which someone had drilled a hole in order to feed a string through. It looked like amber - only the colour didn't match.
"What is it...?", Emly asked, not sure what to think of the price tag and the woman's explanation so far.
"Ah, that is not really what you want to know, is it? It's special and very magical, that's all you have to know about its origin. The question you really want to ask me is what it can do with you, isn't it?". The woman smirked at Emily, who suddenly felt very dumb. "Y-yes", she stumbled, "W-why should I buy it?". "Because I think you will like it - and after all, it was you who asked me for a recommendation, wasn't it? What it does you have to explore for yourself - whether you like it or not, my recommendations are always fitting." The woman sighed. "Fine, you may return it and get your money back if you are not satisfied".
Emily thought about it. The necklace didn't look that nice - but the words of the proprietor made her curious. After all, if it wasn't worth the money she could still return it, so where's the problem? "Are you sure it isn't dangerous to wear it?" "Of course it is dangerous. But whatever happens - the necklace will only go as far as you allow it to bring you. You are in control."
"Fine", Emily said, not knowing whether this really assured her. "I'll take it."
The woman smiled at her. "You won't regret it".
