After eating the whole ant colony and perhaps causing the whole species to go extinct in the evolution ladder, your stomach gurgles and you feel sick.
Then you realize.
You check the wall and manage to read some very small words under the big number.
"Sycosaurus, carnivore, 259 m.a."
Your species weren't meant to consume insects, but you did anyways, permanently changing the course of evolution itself. In these chambers you act as a whole species, and to prove this, you climb some stoney walls with your powerful, but primitive muscles. You get smaller and your snout narrower and longer every inch you climb, until you reach your next evolution. A small reptile-like creature with some few hair sprouts. You led the course to evolve into mammals by taking a more omnivore diet.
Excited, you quickly come back to the lower floor, muscles and fat expanding, making you heavy and turning you into the Sycosaurus again. You then try devolving even more, climbing down the stone wall. Going backwards, 40 million years into the past, you get bigger, you are now 3 meters long and much stronger, your spine cracks as a sail emerges from your back, and you turn into a perfect, living specimen of Dimetrodon Grandis.
You growl in excitement as you reach the floor, and you examine your primitive body. You then climb even deeper, becoming smaller and smaller, until you are merely 60 centimeters long. You are now a Archaeotyris. One of the first mammalian predecessors. You hiss as you realize you're almost touching a water pit, curious, you get in.
You start descending pretty fast, you feel simpler, and your body parts begin to atrophy. You turn into an early, weak and primitive amphibian, and then you devolve, and devolve, and devolve. Hundreds of millions of years pass through you, as you become a mere paleo-fish. The pit then turns into a landscape, a beach, no trees to be seen, volcanoes everywhere, you manage to see from meters of depth in the water as you keep getting sucked down the watery void. You can't get desperate, your early brain can't process what's happening. You see animals around you, fish, then, scorpions, ammonites, and as you get deeper and time goes backward, everything in the world devolves, including you. You feel light, gooey and thin. You're a very primitive jellyfish. And then you reach the absolute black. You become a starfish, and then a sponge. You see nothing, you feel nothing, you are the ancestor of every animal, ever. You then feel ill, you get lower and lower, smaller and smaller, you get torn into pieces, those pieces desintegrating, turning into loose DNA chains, you hit the bottom, and you feel an intense kind of orgasm. Every gene, every protein and every molecule that once were you, is now becoming complex life beings, you see them form, primitive blobs, and then thrive, reproduce, and evolve. Your last bit desintegrates, and so does your conscience, but you manage to see a glowing number on the floor.
"4.41 b.a."
You now get dispersed, and every piece turns into life. New, fresh life. You started the genetic soup in Earth, and you started life.
