Melissa awoke to a massive amount of pain in her neck. Something or someone was holding her down and biting her neck, hard.
It had been an uneventful night, the teams had all returned from their days studying the ruins and had gathered around the fire to relax. Some continued to discuss the ruins while others unwound by playing the guitar and shooting the shit. None of them had thought the camp would be attacked by these horrible creatures.
The pain continued to burn in her neck as it's saliva mixed into her blood stream. Finally, she realized she had to fight back or she would surely die. Thinking fast she thrust her free elbow up at the creatures head. She could feel the pain recede as the monster ripped it's fangs out of her skin. Blood rushed out of the wound staining her shirt and blankets as it coursed down her body.
Melissa didn't have time to worry about her injury just yet though. She jumped up trying to get to a fighting stance before the creature lunged at her but when she looked up, it was gone. The door flap of her tent blew in the wind and Melissa finally registered the sounds of chaos and distress coming from the rest of the camp.
Melissa grabbed her knife from her nightstand and rushed out of her tent. Screams echoed through the camp. Fires had sprung up in different corners of the compound and cast dancing shadows onto the walls of the nearby tents.
A shrill screech tore through the night air as an attractive red head stumbled out of the tent next to Melissa's. She was clutching her neck and Melissa could see blood trickling down her skin. That's when one of the creatures emerged from the tent. It was fixated on the busty woman in front of it and Melissa froze as she beheld it's form free from the shadows of her tent.
