About half an hour later, not much had changed. Liam had gone to try and repair the radio, and had strictly instructed everyone to stay out of the water.
Matt walked up to Josh, who was standing by the edge of the boat, brawny arms folded over his chest.
“So what do you think happened down there?” he asked in a rare moment of seriousness.
Josh shrugged. “I don’t know man. Something weird. I mean, look at this!” he replied, gesturing with his head to his large forearms.
“Yeah, it’s kind of weird but cool,” Matt chuckled.
Josh glanced over at Matt. Of all of them, he had been in the water the longest, and had been affected the most. He had grown several inches and gained a good amount of muscle. His face also appeared more masculine with a strong jawline that had appeared. Josh wondered if his seriousness had resulted from the change.
Chris walked into the living room (the main area where they slept, ate, etc.), startling Liam.
“Sorry, you just surprised me.” Liam said as he turned back to the radio.
“I better be careful; you might punch me through the wall,” he joked.
“Yeah...” Liam snorted.
“You good?” Chris asked.
“I’m okay... it’s just weird and all. I’m the “smart guy,” and I’ve always been in pretty good shape but the smart guy usually isn’t this big,” he explained, gesturing to his muscular body. “I’m also slightly worried, as I took some body measurements when I first got back on the boat. I also took some more not too long ago. Apparently we’re still slowly growing.” He frowned.
“I guess we’ll see what happens,” Chris replied. “How’s the radio?”
“Honestly, there isn’t much I can do. I’m afraid the circuits are fried.”
“Damn. We have to do something. No one knows we’re here. We have enough food and water for months, but with your condition and all...”
“I’ll keep trying Chris,” Liam sighed.
