After Chris had left to check on the others, Liam turned back to the radio, sighing. The last hour had been pretty weird for him.
He remembered the shockwave Matt had caused. Whenever there was a problem diving, they surfaced as soon as possible, and this case had been no exception. As Liam had oriented himself and swam upwards, he felt the peculiar feeling of becoming heavier. As he pulled himself upwards with his arms, he could see his biceps growing. Judging by the feeling of nylon pressing against his skin and the tearing noises he was hearing, this was happening all over his body. After he had surfaced following Josh and Sam, he had marveled at the feeling of brief unbalance caused by his larger and heavier body.
However, he should have stayed focused on the present.
While having the flashback, he pressed a screwdriver against what he didn’t realize was still a live wire. With a spark, electricity shot through his body, causing his muscles to tense painfully.
“Agh!” he yelled as he dropped the screwdriver. As he massaged his sore arms, he came to an unfortunate realization. Soreness equaled exercise. That electricity caused all his muscles to tense, basically giving him a quick but strong workout.
“Oh no...” he groaned.
He looked down to see the group moving away slightly as he gained an inch of height. His gaze was drawn to his neoprene-covered chest, which was beginning to swell outwards. His already large arms swelled even more, quickly followed by his thighs and calves, growing as far as to tear the legs of his too-small wetsuit. His upper body continued to expand, splitting his wetsuit and leaving him in what could be described as neoprene swim trunks. He stood there in shock as his growth slowed back down again.
“Oh my god...” he gasped, running a larger hand through his brown hair. He looked over, noticing the size of his bicep. He had always been in good shape, but still the smallest guy in the group. Now after Matt and Sam, he was one of the largest.
Chris ran in. “Hey I heard you yell... WHAT THE HELL?” he yelled. He looked over at the now shirtless and larger Liam. “What happened to you?”
“The radio shocked me,” he replied. “It must have briefly accelerated my growth.”
“Geez! You’re probably about the Sam size Sam was to start with! I’d guess a little bigger!” Chris chuckled.
“Well, I’d better keep trying to fix this radio,” he concluded. “Sitting around isn’t going to save us.”
He turned back to the radio, and started to fiddle with it again.
“You alright?” Chris asked him.
“I think so, it’s just I thought I was big then but look at me now!” Liam half-smiled.
“You should probably change though. What you’re wearing probably isn’t the most structurally sound outfit,” Chris pointed out, gesturing to what was left of Liam’s wetsuit, barely clinging to his larger body.
Liam laughed. “You’re probably right.”
