Lincoln High was once the top high school in the whole school district when it came to sports. In the past decade, it decided to shift more funding towards its other programs: theatre, choir, art, and academics.
This caused more students to flock towards those programs, as sports teams dwindled in numbers. The tennis team, out of all of them, gained the most members. Track and field came second. Football came third, but (save for a few popular and exceptional players), barely anyone was truly good at the game. All the other sports were equal: they basically died out.
To remedy this, the administrators of Lincoln High decided to recruit a new athletic director. His name was Cody Mauro (or Coach Mauro), and he was young (aged 23), vibrant, clever and as athletic as he should be. Seeing the shape of the programs compelled him to volunteer his school for the Jock Project.
Coach Mauro decided to let those exceptional football jocks in on that dirty little secret, but they weren’t scared. In fact, they became excited at the prospect and were willing to do anything they could to save their dying sports programs. The idea of a baseball team and a better football team was on top of their mind.
