The rest of the day was spent going from class to class and focusing on work. Barb’s life now had nerdy work urges so Kyle continued that new trend. From math to history to English Kyle kept up, and his new life enjoyed it.
Him and his new Asian friend Kim talked about dorky tv shows and books all day and by the end of it Kyle had almost forgotten he wasn’t a nerdy high school student. He said goodbye to Kim and walked down the street towards his house. “Wait....” he thought. “I meant Barbs house. It’s jot mine.”
He was a little freaked out as he now realized he had been thinking of himself as Barb for the last few hours. He went home and ate dinner with barbs family. Kyle looked at all the nerd awards his current life had gotten and he wondered how it was before he swapped Barb’s personality with that book. He wondered if he would ever get it back the way it was.
The next day Barb woke up and felt a little weird. She walked over to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Was everything the same? Her curly brown hair, her penis, her cute jammies.... everything seemed normal. Suddenly it hit and Kyle remembered everything!
“Oh god.” He thought aloud. “I totally forgot who I was for a minute. Man I guess the longer you’re in another life the more normal it feels. I do want to leave my life, but I want to pick the best one. If I stay here, I may forget everything... I better go to my life to make my decision.”
Kyle got in the shower and started making a checklist of every trait. She had to keep everything in order. She set her curly hair and made a note that it was definitely not hers. She checked her penis and was pretty sure it was hers. She got out of the shower and dressed in her favorite Star Trek blouse and skirt. She tied her bushel of hair in a ponytail and did her minimal makeup skills. Kyle was completely unaware that she was referring to herself as a she.
She made her way around town and kept her eyesight out for her old life. Eventually she saw her old Roomate Ty hanging with his girlfriend Brook in a code shop. Kyle couldn’t place where he knew them for a second but then it came rushing back. She looked around and saw Barb in Kyle’s life. Kyke aimed the device and hit swap once they were both selected.
Kyle began to focus as it all came back. His mind cleared as he remembered everything. He realized he was a dude and the Barb was the girl, along with everything else. He watched as the cute red headed dork akwardly walked away from talking to a jock in the shop. Kyle felt a little bad since they might’ve been dating before Kyle turned her into a nerd but he was sure things would probably work out for her. Besides, Kim was nice and needed the friend.
Kyle started talking to Ty, pretending nothing had changed as he thought about what to do next. He figured he’d look at his options in the shop, and if none looked good then he’d move on to other places to search for a new life.
