...a road. Or at least it looks like a road.
It looks like demons took lava from a nearby volcano and used it to make a black and shiny road. It doesn't help that the demonic path has white lines lining the road with bright white paint.
She vaguely remember hearing reports about how some of the more intelligent monster races build roads and other humans means of transportation to their evil lairs. At last that’s what she thinks she remembers. She never really pay attention to the reports.
Her first impulsion was to turn around and leave. The black and unnatural looking road could imply the possibility of running into the otherworldly monsters who made it. She rather have her body guards deal with the possibility of monster attack, and have misfortunes to bare witness to the monster's possibly ugly bodies herself.
But at the same time, this road is the first indication of civilization since she first came to this forest. It's possibly her chance of being fed and given a bath by sundown.
Maybe if she walk down this road, she might find a town or a passing carriage.
Arianna reluctantly touched her bare foot to the black road only to find herself jerking it away at the mere touch to it. It was hot! Perhaps it was not trees around the road to shade the road, thus letting the surprisingly hot sun to heat it up to usurp degrees.
Arianna once again felt her stomach doing uncomfortable things to her insides.
Perhaps it would be better if she just walked on the grass besides the road. At least the grass is a little more comfortable to stepping on pointing sticks all the time.
But does Arianna honestly want to follow this black and unholy hot road? It could lead her to trouble. On the other hand, it could help her her meet people again. Just having company and shelter is enough for her at the moment.
