Emily decided that she wanted to see the changes up close. She knew the Hogans alright but she felt it'd be hilarious to have a chat with them now. She grabbed a bag large enough to fit the bulky camera down and went downstairs. She passed her father sleeping in a chair and saw her mother over in the other room preparing the dinner table. Before she left the house she quickly decided to let them know where she was headed.
"Hey mom! I'm just gonna say hi to the- uh, I mean Ms. Carter!" She yelled. She had almost said "The Hogans" but quickly realized that Mr. Hogan wasn't even a human in this new reality and used Laura's maiden name hoping that was the right name.
"Okay dear but the food is almost ready so don't be too long." She replied back.
Emily walked out the front and quickly ran across their yards. She knocked on the door and heard their dog Rufus barking. Emily always got woken up by that dog, and figured he'd be on the list of changes she would make. The doorknob turned and out stepped Jacqueline. Before the camera changed her, she had been a young kid named Jack. Now he was his mother's older sister.
"Oh heya Emily! Back from college I reckon? It's good to see ya!" She said in a familiar tone.
Emily tried not to giggle remembering that she once baby sat this person when they were a baby boy. She kept having to remind herself of the changes.
"Oh hi Aunty Jacki. It's good to see you too!" Emily replied, somehow guessing that Jacqueline would love to be called aunt.
The two hugged and Emily walked inside. The house was a lot emptier than she had remembered. Any signs of toys had totally vanished. A few pieces of furniture were missing and the house was a lot cleaner than Emily had ever seen it. She figured not having any kids yet or less people in the house in general contributed to that.
Over on one of the few remaining sofa chairs was Laura. She was rubbing her belly as she was starring out the window. She glanced over and seemed to perk up as Emily walked in. The two exchanged some happy hugs and then talked about how each other's lives were going.
Emily was loving every second of this. It was so funny to hear Laura speculate about a person Emily already met. Mike was an ok kid who usually drove Laura crazy as she remembered it. Emily loved the power she had as she thought about Mike reliving his whole life again. While the three chatted, Emily peeked out the window and spotted the deflated tan floatie sitting on the fence. She was never the biggest fan of Mr. Hogan, so maybe that'd be one of the changes she would keep.
She got wrapped up in conversation fo another minute or two before their husky Rufus kept pushing into Emily's side and the side the bag was on. It reminded Emily that she didn't like the dog and that she had a camera that could change everything. She gossiped for another minute before she reached down to silently change the dog. Unfortunately the camera was missing!
Emily tried not to show visual panic as she thought about where it could be. She knew she brought it so where was it?! She then had a terrifying thought as she glanced over to see Rufus holding the camera in his mouth. She froze as she realized any sudden move could screw everything up. Rufus started gnawing when...
