Ryan grabbed Marceline, pulling her back to the group while Dylan and Nicolai ran forwards.
Kit however was engulfed by the swarm. Even the perceptive rogue couldn’t identify which rat was Kit. Their only clue was her final cry of ‘Help!’, fading away as the rats were likely pulling her further down the tunnel.
“We’ve got to rescue, Kit. Keep safe and wary,” Nicolai ordered, slashing at a few nearby rats.
They were quite weak, fading with but a single slash. Dylan provided support, quick flashes of electricity shocking any rat who made it by Nicolai, allowing Ryan to safely dispatch them.
Marceline was stunned by the loss of her companion. She was on autopilot, healing her friends without thought.
How could we lose our strongest mage so early in the dungeon? To a curse, rather than combat. This dungeon just became a whole lot harder, Marceline thought.
The final rat merely grinned at the group, slowly backing away from the group. The rest of his swarm had been defeated.
“You want new rat? Follow me!” the rat chuckled, turning and running on all fours down the dark tunnel, his laughter echoing behind him.
