You and your twin stared at each other in a few moments of shocked silence. There appeared to be just enough room on your joint shoulders to look at each other at an angle. You could feel the pounding of your heart, quick and steady. You slowly exhaled, not realizing that you were holding your breathe. Your heart began to beat more normally, the momentary panic having lessened. "I guess the wand takes things literally." you say, attempting a smirk.
"No kidding." your brother replied. You watched as he rotated his hand, your left. "Just what exactly were you trying to accomplish wishing that we were closer."
You shrugged your shoulder not sure how to answer. Surprisingly, you felt the muscles in between yours and your brother's neck tense. A sensation he seemed to have also felt when you judged the look on his face. "Um..." you began, "The wand made us into two people, but I guess I just wanted us to be close like twins. I thought we would suddenly get memories of being close twins... not this." You raised your own hand, palm upwards. You suddenly realized that you were no longer holding the wand.
Your brother must of also realized the same thing, "Where's the wand?"
In the next moment, you felt a tug towards the left and found yourself falling. You yelled out in surprise and smacked heads with your twin when your body crashed onto the carpet. You and he were both stunned for a few moment with your back on the ground. "What..."
"That was my fault." Your twin answered immediately. "I tried to go look for the wand, realizing too late that you needed to literally go with me."
His statement made you chuckle softly. "Yeah, I guess we have not choice but to go every where together. Sorry... that part is my fault."
It was odd hearing him mimic the same laugh. "Well to be honest, I probably would have made the same mistake, if I had the wand. Articulating our thoughts was never our strong suit."
That brought a smile to your face. It surprised you at how easy it was to talk with him. In all intents and purposes, you and he are the same person, only being split into twins minutes ago. You and he worked your torso off of the ground, so that you sat with your arms braced against the carpet. Your two feet were lined in front of you. "How about we brainstorm how to word or wishes together next time, to avoid any... unforeseen consequences."
"Agreed. Though... this is not as bad as I had originally thought. Maybe your wish did make us close figuratively as well."
You and he then spend the next couple of minutes working your joint body to a standing position. It was a slow, complex process. Each of you had to verbalize how you were going to move each limb or part of your body, while the other braced their side. Finally, it paid off, and the two of you were standing again. You and he slowly approached the wand, which had fallen where you were standing before the wish had begun.
Carefully, you and he bent your knees, and your twin grabbed the wand. Standing back up, your twin smiled. "We make a good team."
"Two heads are better than one." You could not help but state the old adage, feeling that it applied to your situation, which got a small laugh out of your twin.
"We agreed to use the wand together. So, I guess we have a couple of choices to make." He stated.
