CYOTF (Human)

Remaining Inseparable

added by ctbro 4 years ago O

You spoke up before your twin could list a couple of options. "I think we should explore a new reality as twins. I've always wanted a twin, and I am assuming you also feel the same way?"

Your twin smiled brightly. "I don't think that was hard to guess. We're literally like the same person in two bodies... errr.." His lips pursed when he realized he misspoke. "I mean... we're like the same person in separate heads. We don't exactly have two bodies anymore." He raised an eyebrow upwards as he looked towards you.

You rolled your eyes in response. "That can be easily remedied." You motioned towards the wand in your twin's hand. "You could always use the wand saying something like..." A thought made you stop your sentence short. "Maybe we should put the wand down before discussing how to use it."

"Right..." Your twin agreed, seemingly following your line of thinking.

You and he slowly shuffled toward your bed, and your twin laid the wand on top of the covers. For the first time since using the wand, you began taking in your bedroom surroundings. Your bed was still unmade from the morning, with the covers thrown over to the side. Posters of some of your favorite bands were hung onto one of the walls. In the corner across from the door, your unorganized desk and computer were still there. But, there were changes to the room. It surprised you how long it took for you to notice the changes. Some were subtle, like the carpet color of your floor which had now become a darker shade of green. Other changes were more noteworthy.

It was clear that you and your twin shared the room. Though given your current predicament, it would have been ridiculous for you to have separate bedrooms. The shelf above your desk, which held some of your old trophies, had some new additions. There were a couple of old karate belts displayed. You and your twin slowly walk towards your desk to look at a few new clippings. Before, you had collected and pinned a few of the articles that showcased the various group or club activities you participated in. One of the articles instantly drew both of your attentions. You and he peered closer to read, 'Another victory for the local high school robotics team. After months of hard work, the team celebrates with their winning robot. Two of the members proudly hold up the trophy: twins, Brandon (left) and Landon (right)...' You and your twin knew intuitively what your names were now. The image showed you both and your team in order from left to right. Looking from your perspective in the image, it was obvious that your name was Brandon and your twin's was Landon. You decided not to comment on the embarrassing fact that your parents gave you rhyming names.

The article also depicted an image of you both holding winning trophy. It was one of many that explained several of your accomplishments growing up. You and you twin turn to glance at each other and unintentionally speak in concert, "Wow! That is weird!" Suddenly feeling sheepish, you both then turn slightly away from each other. After a moment of silence, Landon, your twin, then said, "Its strange to think that this is normal. I'm nowhere near used to sharing a body with you, and here we are, winning a robotics tournament with our high school team."

You had been listening to what he had said, agreeing in your head at the strangeness of it all. As you studied the latest robotics article, you remembered things happening much differently. "Didn't we... er... I mean when we were one person. Didn't we loose the robotics competition?"

You watched as Landon bit his lip lightly, as if lost in thought, and then his faced brighten in realization. "We did lose the competition."

You could not help but smile softly. "I guess having us both on the team somehow helped us win."

"Two heads are better than one, and all that." Your twin restated the adage that you had spoken earlier.

"Funny..." You said, trying and failing to hide a smile. "Though seriously, I wonder what other things are different... or the same?"

"Well... like you said. We've both always wanted a twin. It might not be exactly what we expected, but... would it be so bad to stay as the really close twins that we are?" Landon asked.

"We're more like inseparable twins." You pointed out. You bit your lip lightly, thinking about the possibilities of this reality. You were surprised to feel a level of excitement building in you. "But... I guess I am cool with it."

"Liar." Landon stated with a sly smile. He lightly socked you in the shoulder. "You are just as curious as I am."
