"I know, we should start at the beginning. With your first fantasy. Yes, that is what would make the most sense here. We'll just work through them, like a list. The first week will be your first transformation fantasy, The Shaggy Dog. Now, I don't have the ring but I don't think that'll be a problem in the long run." Kathryn grinned from ear to ear as she looked at the young man. "Now, then, you remember the magic words, don't you?"
Nate nodded as he blurted them out, "In Canis corpore transmuto."
"Good, good." Kathryn's smile suddenly seemed a bit devious. "Now, you remember how it goes in the film though, the transformations can happen at any time."
"Umm...what?" Nate was suddenly panic stricken. Did she mean he had no control over when he changed?
"Exactly that my dear boy! What fun would it be if you could control when you changed from a boy into a big shaggy dog?!" Kathryn let out a delighted laugh.
Nate began to feel panic begin to set in. A whole week of randomly turning into a dog at various times. How was he going to explain this to people. What was he going to do? She walked over and patted him on the back.
"There, there, it's all in good fun. Try to enjoy it. I think you'll get a thrill out of it."
Nate nodded, he had to admit there was a part of him that did find it kind of exhilarating not knowing when it was going to happen.
"Now, then, back home with you. And thank you for all your help."
Nate ran back up the steps and out the door, across his yard and into his house next door. As he walked in, he found a note on the kitchen counter reminding him that his mom and brother were going to be out of town until the next night and he had the house to himself. He trudged upstairs and decided to get changed into his pajamas. A pair of comfy boxers and a t-shirt. He stopped at the mirror on the back of his closet door and sighed. Nothing. Not a single white hair.
"In canis corpore transmuto," he said to his reflection a bit more forcefully. "Dammit."
He walked out of the bedroom, shutting off the light behind him as he repeated the same four magic words over and over again. He walked back down the steps and checked himself out again in the mirror by the door. Still nothing. He walked into the living room and flipped on the T.V as he threw his legs up on the foot rest. His heart dropped as he saw they were covered in tufts of white and grey fur. He cried out in excitement as he watched the fur quickly grow in, traveling upwards from his legs to waist, chest arms and finally felt it growing in over his face. The changes came quickly as he morphed from a teenage boy into a large, shaggy Old English Sheepdog.
He jumped off the couch and walked around the ground floor, getting used to walking on four legs as he wondered how long the transformation would last for. He walked around the house, sniffing around as he explored his new heightened senses.
"Wow, this is really weird," he said aloud and then stopped in shock. "Holy crap, I can talk. Cool."
Nate continued to walk around the house trying to identify the new, heightened scents he was picking up. It had been roughly fifteen minutes when he found himself beginning to shift back to human. Within moments, he was back to his old self.
"Only fifteen minutes? I guess that won't be so bad then," muttered Nate to himself as he wondered when his next transformation would happen.
