Ryan pulled on the wetsuit quickly, eager to get into the water. As he climbed down the ladder into the ocean, Bill spoke out.
“It might feel really strange, but you’ll be perfectly safe in that suit.”
Ryan then dropped into the water and began to swim away. He started to wonder how the suit was supposed to help him underwater, as it didn’t cover his face or have a breathing apparatus or anything. But then it started to spread. It slowly covered his bare feet and his hands and began to crawl up his neck. Once his feet were covered, they spread out into very flat flippers, and his ankles were caught up in them, leaving the flippers in a straight line from his lower legs. He was able to swim much faster, with another acceleration as his hands spread out with longer fingers and webbing. The black crawled over his head, smoothing out his features entirely and leaving a transparent membrane over his eyes. For a moment, he panicked as he stopped breathing, but he didn’t seem to need to breathe any more.
Ryan dove under the water at high speed, as his torso narrowed and his limbs elongated. Gradually, his joints became less clear until his limbs, and indeed, his torso, were able to bend like rubber at any point. He somersaulted and came to a stop.
“Ryan, can you hear me?” Said Bill over the radio.
“Yes, I can. What’s this suit for?”
“Extreme deep sea exploration. You won’t be affected by pressure or the need to breathe no matter how deep you go. And nothing can hurt you, you’re purely organic rubber at this point.”
