You carefully step out into the hall being sure not to make a sound. Out in the living room you can hear Lincoln and Levi playing with Pat and in their bedroom, you can hear the muffled sounds of Mr. And Mrs. Bell talking. You are not sure where you should begin to look for the keys, but you decide that you should first check to see if the keys are still in Mr. Bell's possession.
As you slowly approach the bedroom door Mr. and Mrs. Bell's voices become clear enough for you to make out what they are saying. The door is slightly cracked open so you peer through the opening as you hear Mrs. Bell cry, "I just don't know where we went wrong with him Jerry. He was always such a happy kid, but now he has such an attitude."
"Wow", you whisper as you realize that she is talking about you. You are becoming even more impressed with the detailed changes that the keys made when they turned you into a twelve-year-old.
"Please Amy", Jerry scoffs, "You are making a big deal out of nothing. This has been one time that he has cursed us out, and you are acting like he has been sneaking out, drinking and having sex."
"Don't belittle me Jerry", Amy tells Jerry as she gets up from the bed and glares at her husband. "I've seen this before with the kids that I teach. It always starts out this way and then they fall into the wrong crowd. Then before we now it he will be in jail."
"Jail really", Jerry laughs, "Dear you are spiraling, just calm down, everything is going to be fine."
"I said not to belittle me", Amy yells as she grabs a pillow and chucks it across the room at Jerry. "I know what the problem is, it's that public school we need to pull the kids out and enroll them in a private school. Or better yet I will home school them."
"Oh please, you are a teacher at that public school and now you want to pull your kids out", Jerry reminds Amy.
As Jerry continues to berate Amy you start to feel bad that the keys have caused so much trouble and unnecessary heartache for this family. The keys! You finally snap back to reality and remember that their problems don't matter because all that matters right now is that you find the keys.
