Mr. Stockman was successful. He had been in the military and knew how to sneak and how to capture. He caught both Chad and Brad along with his own two sons again.
Chandler called Bill but Bill found a problem with the Chronivac. No it wasn't glitching. Bill could still use it but in the process of the Chronivac normalizing the previous changes, the Chronivac had started writing some of its own rules. The most important new rule was that the Chronivac made a distinction between hunters and prey. It even appeared on the person's Chronivac profile as about the eighth line down would read "Hunting Status:" followed either by "Hunter", "Prey", "Exempt", or "Switch". It seemed somewhat random who the Chronivac determined to be hunters or prey but there did seem to be a tendency. The Chronivac tended to choose as prey those who were the most athletic and as hunters those who were the most grasping. However, there were exceptions such as his own sons Jeff and Greg who were not athletic. Greg loved cars and Jeff loved computers. Whatever hunting status the Chronivac assigned, it wasn't letting Bill change it and Mr. Stockman was a hunter.
The Chronivac had changed the guns of the world so that one class of guns was now designed to transform prey. These guns had miniature computers that distinguished between prey and hunter. Bill hadn't yet determined how these computers made that distinction since he wasn't the computer whiz and his computer whiz son was currently a speechless trophy. For now at least, Bill was unable to help his friend Chandler.
