"No!" Jared shouted. "Be quiet, Shaggy."
The sheepdog growled in a sulky fashion. "Yes, master, but..."
"No buts, Shaggy!" Jared lost his temper. "Stop trying to tempt me. I am finished with being a dog!"
The sheepdog obeyed its master and didn't argue.
Jared looked back down at the red plastic disc in his right hand. He felt himself wanting to chase after the frisbee as it sailed over the grass. "Oh my god," he said. The frisbee only magnified the allure of slipping back into canine form. He dropped the frisbee in the nearest trash can and tugged on Shaggy's leash. "C'mon, boy, we're going home."
They arrived home without further incident. Jared chained the sheepdog next to his house in the yard and went indoors to see how Kevin's research was advancing. The strong temptation in the park had unsettled him.
He found Kevin in his room, diligently staring at the laptop screen. "Can't you do this in your own room, Kev?" Jared groused.
Kev looked up. "You won't believe what I am finding out about Wepwawet."
"What you finding out?" Jared asked while stretching out on his back on his bed.
"He was one of the war gods, so that's never good," Kev said.
"I guess not," Jared said sleepily. He yawned.
"You tired?" Kev looked up from the laptop opened on his brother's desk.
"I guess that walk too a lot out of me," he answered, deciding not to mention the incident with the frisbee.
Kev turned back to his research.
Jared's eyes grew heavier...
