It slowly advanced towards me, making a bee-line to my position. I gave a quick flick with my tail and circled it, leaving as much space between us as I possibly could. If only I could make it try and lunge at me a few times when I’m aware of it then I’d be able to- Darkness instantly covered my vision as something scooped me up as well as the water around me.
Confused and tossed about I struggled to understand what was happening to me. I was in a dark enclosure with barely enough room to fit, water sloshing all around me as I wriggled. The light was filtering through here with a reddish hue, as if going through flesh. My globulus eyes widened even further as I realized that the light was going through flesh. I was in a pelican’s bill. Oh why in the world did I ever think that becoming a fish would be a good idea?
The pelican slowly raised its head upwards and I felt the water around me draining. I sobbed: I was going to die, digested alive in a pelican’s stomach. I’d rather be skewered by the first bird: at least it would have been a quick death.
Apparently, the other predator wasn’t quite satisfied with me being eaten by this pelican either as I heard it attacking my captor’s head. It gave me some time to think and perhaps reflect a bit on my actions.
