Maaya and Rexie were still recovering from that throttling that Jack had gave him. His dark powers made him stronger than he looked. Though as demons, it was unlikely they could be choked to death, but it still hurt. Still, they were keep well-away from Jack as he was talking with Kellie.
It was a bit unexpected for Circe to walk over to them. "Oh, are you two still sore?" she asked, her concern not sounding completely genuine. The enchantress was a model example of Grecian beauty, with her olive skin, dark hair, and lovely figure.
"It hurts to swallow a bit," Rexie rasped.
"You can still talk and walk, so you can still work," said Circe, "Now get on your hooves and pay attention. I have a little job for you."
"What's that?" asked Maaya, her curiosity piqued.
"I was thinking over your little man-wolf idea that Lilith vetoed," said Circe, "Personally, I think it has potential. I want you to find this boy and give him this." With a small flash of green flame, a cake appeared in her hand.
"Ooh, cake," said Rexie, reaching for it.
Circe snatched her hand away and said, "Not for you, imp. You're to give it to this sick boy, tell him it would make him strong again. He'll longer be mocked and pitied, he will be feared and respected."
"It'll make him a man-wolf?" asked Maaya.
"Perhaps. It may make him another kind of beast. And don't think of eating this yourself or you're the one who'll become an animal," said Circe. She gave an accusing look at Rexie and said, "You'll probably become a piglet."
"It's always pigs with you, isn't it?" asked Rexie.
"A lot of men are pigs," said Circe, "Some are wolves or snakes or vultures. I am curious as to what this cake will unleash in the boy. Now hurry along. I want to see this man-beast before moonrise." She handed the cake to Maaya since Rexie would obviously be too tempted to eat it. The imp and succubus soon hurried off.
Circe wasn't being dishonest with those two, at least not totally. She had been aching to use her transmogrification magics in this new age. She was well-aware that this new generation was a lot more accepting of transformation and would want to become animals, or part animal. Circe wasn't particularly eager to be a part of Lilith's Greek choir. Lilith was too obsessed with strengthening darkness when it was balance they were seeking, not dominance. And Circe thought Baba Yaga was starting to get too senile. If she hadn't let herself age so much, she would be sharper and less interested in eating children. Circe was planning on making herself more known in this modern world, for light or darkness, she cared not.
