Setting some ground rules for pets

added by EmirDelta 4 years ago A BM O

Dennis snaps out of his brief reverie and focuses back on you "Of course, you won't do as you are now. Thankfully, I think you have to do to what I say, same as Karen, so let's set a few ground rules. First off, your complaining is getting old, even with that hilarious "accent" you've picked up. From now on, you can only speak if spoken to." he pauses for a moment with a thoughtful look "or if you're really in danger. Don't want our newest family member to get hurt, after all." You shoot Dennis a look of alarm at this new restriction, but the only protest you can vocalize is some quiet groaning noises from the back of your throat.

"Second, if you're gonna be my little girl's bunny, you're gonna need to act more like one." You once again feel a tingle, and you watch with dismay as you curl your fingers up and bring your thumb in, miming the look of paws. You try to spread your fingers back out, but it's like you've forgotten how to do so, and you realize you won't even be able to open most doors like this. Your nose also twitches, and you find that it occasionally does that on it's own unless you specifically will it to stop.

"Third, and I'll admit this one might just be for me, but pets don't wear human clothes. You can keep that speedo on, but you're not allowed to wear anything else unless someone else dresses you in it, understood? In fact, just to make sure you stay modest, you can't take any clothes on or off yourself." At this point, you're mostly just thankful that Dennis let you keep the speedo. "And I can't have you running off." You'd been planning in the back of your head to slip away the instant Dennis wasn't looking and do your best to try and get someone to help you, but this last-ditch plan of running away suddenly feels like something you're unwilling to do. Even though you'd rather be anywhere but here, you simply can't imagine walking out of eyesight of Karen or Dennis, which rather severely limits your escape options. "There, that should do it. Now let's head back and get you settled in your new home. Don't worry, kiddo. We'll take real good care of you. You'll learn to love being our pet!" Dennis reaches down to pet you behind the ears once more, as he does, you move to push his hand away again. However, as soon as he starts scratching you behind your "ears", a feeling of bliss overtakes you, and you zone out and lean into his hand. "See, not so bad, is it?" Dennis's words shake you back to reality, and you dart your head away again. It must have been that command to act more like a bunny taking over.

Dennis calls Karen to head back home, and they both start walking away. You try to walk after them, but surprise yourself when you end up taking a big, two-legged jump forward instead. You try to walk forward instead, but you find that your legs simply won't move separately, you can only move around in big, goofy hops. You sigh as you realize this latest forced bunny behavior, and you start hopping forward with both feet, going as fast as this awkward movement will allow you to. Every hop sends your tail and ears flopping around, sometimes dropping the ears into your face, which just reminds you of how silly you look, setting off a fresh wave of humiliation. You try to catch the eye of passers-by to ask for help, but all you get in return are embarrassed looks and laughter at your antics, and try as you might you can't say a word to them. It seems they just think you're a weird, enthusiastic performer of some sort, or maybe they just see you as a cute rabbit like Karen does.

As you make it to the car, you decide that all you can do for now is go along with this and hope that at some point, you can fix it. You jump into the backseat, and try to buckle yourself in, but you can't grip the belt with your curled-up paw hands. Karen notices your problem. "Don't worry Bunny, I'll buckle you in." she says, tightening the seat belt for you. You feel gratitude that you've at least got a caring and thoughtful owner who will - wait, owner? You shake your head to clear that thought away, although at this point it's hard to see yourself as anything but a pet. "I can't keep calling you Bunny. You need a name. How about....Prince Hopper!" Once she says that, you find that although you remember your old name just fine, when you think about your present self, all you can think of calling yourself is the rather inglorious "Prince Hopper".

Dennis laughs from the front seat. "Well, welcome to the family, Hopper." You'd droop your ears in shame, if they were real, but Karen reaches over and starts petting you and you worries leave your head as bliss overtakes you again. Between the feeling of being petted and the movement of the car, you end up dozing off, your last waking thought hoping that this will all be over when you wake up.
