As Phillip finished his wish, he said, "I wish I had a new family to take me in and love me."
After Phillip fell asleep, the forces of magic in charge of his wish began making arrangements...
"Phillip? Phillip, dear, wake up!"
He slowly struggled awake. Was that the headmistress' voice? She sounded...sweet. What was going on here?
"Phillip, get up quickly now! There's a family here interested in adopting you!"
Phillip bolted awake. In no time at all, he'd cleaned up and put on his nicest clothes. Could it be? After all these years of hoping, praying...
When he entered the room, he saw the headmistress standing with a man and a woman. They were probably in their mid- to late 30's, and were both good-looking. They both (especially the woman) had kind faces. There was only one thing Phillip found himself put-off by. The two were both very fit. The man looked like he still played football (the American type), and the woman probably played quite a bit of tennis and volleyball.
"Phillip, I want you to meet Peter and Lila Carson. They would be delighted to adopt you. We've already gone over the necessary papers, all that's left is for you to make your decision."
Phillip decided to say yes. After all, who knew when the chance might come up again? And they seemed like such a nice couple.
After tearful embraces all around, Phillip packed his few belongings and climbed into the car with Peter and Lila. When he called them that, though, they insisted on Dad and Mom.
"After all, we're family now. Right, bud?" Philip's new Mom said, rubbing his hair affectionately.
"Now, I'll warn you, in our house we're all pretty dedicated to staying active. I could tell you noticed that when you first saw us, and when you meet your new brothers it'll be even clearer. We don't ask much, but we will want you to join a sport," Dad said.
Phillip nodded. It could definitely be worse.
When they got to the house and Phillip had brought his stuff inside, four boys were standing by Mom and Dad.
Mom said, "Phillip, these are your new brothers. Finn is our oldest at 16, and he plays football, wrestling, and baseball. Luke is 14, and he plays soccer, basketball, and track. And these are the twins, Walter and Wyatt, who are 10 and do gymnastics."
All 4 waved with smiles on their faces.
