Marcus and Vito, after scouting the Charleston home, headed back to the hotel.
"I don't get it," Marcus started as Vito parked the car, "If we know where these guys are, why don't we take care of business?"
"Because," Vito started, "I want to get this done as cleanly as possible. We've been up after a long drive, and tired mobsters are careless mobsters. We get some shut-eye, and tomorrow morning we take care of things." Marcus huffed when he heard this, but he knew better than to go against his brother. Vito checked into the hotel under the name, "Freddy Giovanni", and Marcus and Vito went into their room to sleep for the night.
Before falling asleep, a few things went through his mind. For such a small town, there were quite a few lights on so early in the morning. Coming from the city that never sleeps, this wouldn't normally bother Vito, but for a small town, this was unusual. And then there was something the mob boss said to Vito back in Morton about rumors that this town had a wild side, but at first, he dismissed those. But what if those weren't rumors at all. With those thoughts, Vito drifted off to sleep.

It was mid-morning by the time Vito woke up. He looked over at Marcus and could see him still snoring away in sleep. Vito quietly got up and got himself cleaned up and dressed. His stomach growled indicating that he hadn't eaten anything in a while. Leaving Marcus in the hotel room, he made his way outside into the morning sun. At first, the town was nothing unusual, with cars driving in and out of town. He noticed a convenience store nearby and decided to get some food from there.
On his way, he started to notice unusual things about the people in the town. The first thing he noticed was the lack of old people. It wasn't that he didn't see anyone elderly, but everywhere he looked, it looked like everyone was in their mid-20's. Even stranger was how fit everyone looked. The men were well muscled and extremely fit while the women were very curvy and busty. Yet, as far as Vito could tell, there was no Planet Fitness or any other gym here. And the type of fit the people were displaying couldn't be the result of mere jogging. This struck Vito as very unusual.
When Vito went into the convenience store, he picked up a few things that he and Marcus could eat without a whole lot of preparation. As Vito made his way to the check out counter near the front. He noticed that the girl manning the counter was very much like every other woman in this town, young and fit. While she was checking out the food, he decided to strike up a conversation. "Hey, can I ask you something?"
"Yes?" the girl asked as she rung up Vito's purchases.
"I couldn't help but notice the people here are a bit...let's say...healthy." The girl paused for a moment when Vito said that. "I was just wondering if you could tell me what the deal here is with people here in town."
The girl smiled at Vito and said, "I'm not sure what you mean, sir."
"Why do people look so good here?" Vito asked.
The girl simply shrugged and said, "Clean living and lucky genes I guess." She finished ringing up the groceries and said, "That'll be seven dollars and forty-six cents."
"Right," Vito said as he gave a ten dollar bill to the girl, and the girl gave him his change. After that, Vito collected his groceries and made his way back to the hotel. On his way back, the more people he saw, the greater his suspicions grew.
This town had a secret.
