The morning was refreshing as usual on a typical weekend, and you were actually excited to spend some personal time with it after a tiring week of college. You leap out of bed with a bit more of a bound than usual before accidentally stubbing your toes against the dresser. You hiss a bit at the stinging sensation, wondering if it had always been that close to your bed. Waving the pain off, you hop down the stairs, noticing your older sisters grumbling near the front door. As you approach them, you notice Grace on the floor straining to get her shoes on while Lucy was digging through the shoe rack for a pair that fit.
"What going on you guys?" you ask, now fully awake after your toes stubbing.
"Ugh, it's just none of our shoes fit!" Grace exclaimed, throwing her favorite pair of tennis shoes away in frustration.
"Yeah, who knew we could still get growth spurts at this age, but lo and behold, we already grew out our shoes!" Lucy says, just as frustratingly before sitting down next to her sister, holding up her leg to show off her foot, the sock just barely holding on to the lengthier feet. You looked down at yours, noticing they had grown in the same way, almost elongated as they looked a bit thinner in width as well. Your toes also seemed a bit closer to each other, which explained why you stubbed more than just your big toe.
As though it were a magic phrase, the mention of outgrowing shoes caused a loud thumping to be heard as Zoe raced down the stairs, muttering "No" over and over again in desperation, before leaping to the shoe rack. It was only a few seconds before you all heard her signature scowl, now with added despair as she threw her now too small black leather gothic boots away.
That was when your mum came in, along with Eric and Luke, both of them holding cardboard boxes. "Oh, looks like everybody did get a bit of a growth spurt today as well!" Whitney said with a giggle between deep breaths caused by her morning run.
"Thankfully your mother stopped on by and we noticed her running shoes weren't fitting that well and that wasn't acceptable!" Eric said, putting his box down and opening it, revealing a whole assortment of elongated shoes.
"And so we brought you all our extra shoes for everyone to try on! We have plenty more at home, so we don't mind sharing with our lovely neighbors!" Luke continued, setting box and opening his.
Zoe immediately pounced on a heavy pair of black and purple boots which she immediately took a liking to while Grace and Lucy were also busy picking out shoes with your mother. Looking over them, much of them looked to be more female in design, as well as being in a shape that were meant for rabbits like Eric and Luke. You guess it didn't matter too much as having a roomier shoe was better than one too small to wear.
You slip on a simple pair of white sneakers, fitting like a glove minus the extra toe room. You also notice that despite all the different designs, they were all the same "Lucky Rabbit Feet" brand of shoes. You've never heard of the brand before, but it seemed like their craftsmanship was top notch as the shoes felt absolutely perfect!
"Thanks you guys! I don't know how we can repay you!" Zoe exclaimed before clearing her throat a bit in realization of her overly positive attitude she just exhibited.
"Oh don't worry! We're neighbors and we just wanted to help you guys out!" Eric said, holding Luke's paw hand as they nuzzled noses. "We best be off now and leave you to our shoes. Have fun with them!" And with that, they walked back home paw hand in paw hand. You didn't even notice that Eric was wearing a short cut tank top that looked more like a woman's tube top...
Regardless, you enjoy your new shoes as you curl your toes in and out within the rabbit-like shoes.
