James grunted as he dropped a large stack of boxes down on the floor. Moving offices had proven to be more work than expected, with the staff being expected to do more of the heavy lifting than initially promised.
James was in his early 20s and worked for a small consulting company. The company was in the process of moving to a cheaper office space that had recently been vacated by the long-standing former tenant. No one really knew much about the former tenant; only that they had been evicted over unusual activities that had occurred in the office space. James didn't really care about the previous tenant, he was just focused on settling into his new work environment and making some money for himself. Having completed his moving, James walked over to join Linda and Carla, two of his other co-workers.
Linda was a middle-aged woman and a long-time employee of the company. She was married and had two children, but didn't let that keep her from staying in great shape. Carla, like James, was a relatively new employee of the company. She was of Japanese ancestry and had a slight nerdish quality to her Her nerdish qualities had actually caused James to develop a bit of a crush on her.
As the three settled in for some idle chitchat, they were distracted by a whoosh of air from down the hall.
"What was that?" Linda exclaimed.
