Maddie thought to herself about what she wanted to do. She was 12 years old again, almost the same age as both her sons. She had gone from an adult to a kid and even effected her clothing, who knew what the ring could do, but she wanted to find out. Staying at home didn't seem like any fun any more and tempted as she was to call people she might know outside her family, a new thought came to her.
"Why couldn't I join the boys at the movies?" She thought. "Maybe this ring could make it so I was a friend of theirs and I could see the movie with them."
She looked at herself in the mirror. "I cant just go out wearing this though...ok lets see, I wish I had some fitting clothes to go out to the movies in for a girl my age."
Almost immediately as she said it, the ring glowed and she gasped as her frumpy comfortable soft clothes began to shift and change. The pants turned to jeans with sequin sparkling designs like flowers on the side, but short to her calfs. Her feet were clad in pink high top converse sneakers, and she now wore a blouse with a cartoon character she recognized from a childrens tv show. She also had a jean top jacket, as her hair became braided back into a ponytail with little braids and beads in it.
Maddie gasped as she stared at her reflection. It was her all right, her at 12 years old, but she'd never worn these kinds of clothes when she was a kid. Of course, she looked exactly like she had otherwise as a kid. With a properly worded wish though she had a feeling she could look completely different, or be someone different. Taking a deep breath, she decided what to do.
"I wish I was a normal 12 year old girl that the boys knew as a friend, so they would take me out to the movies, that it was natural to me, but that I would remember who I was."
All at once she felt a pulse as suddenly all her adult essence her being as a mother and an adult began to syphon away. At first she felt afraid, and wanted to make a wish to stop it, but then she felt a strange pensive and very childlike joy filling her. That joy, the freedom and playfulness of a child grew and grew, and she realized...she liked it. All the responsibility of a grown up, that was still there, she still remembered being a grown up, but now, it was like a different person. Grinning, she felt confident about her wish as she heard the doorbell and heard her former sons, outside.
"Maddie! Come on! We're gonna be late!"
