While taking a puff from the cigar Irene was wondering about her past and her memories were changing. She remembered growing up by the sea. She had green skin upon her birth but she was happy that she had hair when she was younger, tentacles would have made school hard. She remembered her gills she loved her gills though it made her join competitive swim teams impossible.
Irene felt the floating breasts that she let herself be at the water level on her neck. The lapping of the pool felt good on her neck.
Four lines formed on her neck and began to get deeper and deeper until they opened on the side of her neck accessing her throat and air passage. Fortunately, a flap closed to prevent water from going into her lungs.
As Irene smoked her cigar she had the cigar smoke come out her gills. She loved her gills allowed her to save so much money on diving and underwater tours, no air-breathing apparatus.
She was worried that neither of her kids, Jeff and Sarah had gills yet. she blamed her husband's DNA on that.
Because she gained gills, her nose shark into her face leaving slits. Irene's memory of a human nose faded from her mind.
Irene exhaled from her cigar and went underwater. She opened her mouth and pushed water through her gills it was so relieving. She wished she could get her kids to do this with her once their gills came in.
