New Neighbors: Neighborhood Footwear Larceny?

added by higeman 4 years ago O Anthro

Other than the fact that you, your sisters, and your girlfriend were all without shoes, the day went on as normal until the three of you headed back home. After seeing Kate off, you meet up with Grace and Lucy, both seeming to be okay being barefoot but still grumbling about the disappearance of their shoes.

"Ugh, and they weren't even those cheap ones too! They were real designer-made brands that I saved up my paycheck for!" Grace said as she gritted her teeth in frustration.

"Well I don't know about designer brands, but I still put a little investment into mine as well! They were made to last a long time, but I guess that doesn't matter if I can't even wear them." Lucy says, sympathetically patting her sister's back while smothering her own anger easier than Grace was.

"I'm just thankful we have sweepers coming through the streets regularly. I'd hate to have to walk back home on gravel!" you say in an attempt to add a little more positive views in the matter. Not surprisingly, Lucy was appreciative of the gesture while Grace just gave her signature sisterly glare towards you.

You sigh at the lack of success with your elder sister when you notice Nadia walking your direction, but what caught your eye the most was the fact that she too was shoeless.

"Oh hey there Nadia! How, uh... how are you doing today?" you greet, being a bit awkward as you said it since it was clearly obvious she was concerned about the lack of shoes.

"Oh hey there! It's a surprise to see all three of you together! Well if you can guess, and by the looks of your feet you probably can, I woke up this morning to find all my shoes gone! Someone must have came in at night and stole them!" Nadia exclaimed.

"Yeah as if stealing wasn't a normal thing for- ouch!" Grace started to mutter before Lucy elbowed her. Thankfully, though she did hear what your sister said, it looked like Nadia didn't mind any of it, to Lucy's and your relief.

"Yeah, I guess a kleptomaniac like me should have seen something like this coming. Honestly, I think a shock like this is what I needed to help with a sore habit like that. Well, I guess I'll see all of you and your mother around sometime!" As Nadia walks past you three, she does stop briefly before she continued. "...Oh and I'll be coming around to do this in person but... tell Whitney that I'm sorry..." And with that, she went on her way.

The three of you did feel a bit bad for her and her habit, but what was more concerning was the fact that she lost her shoes as well! And the journey back to the house all but confirmed that it was indeed a neighborhood-wide issue, with familiar faces showing signs of concern and/or frustration over their barefoot conundrum. What was even more surprising was that even your new neighbors weren't exempt from the shoe-based burglaries. Eric and Luke were outside talking with Whitney and Zoe about the situation, their rabbit feet on full display. You couldn't help but lean a bit back to see the paw pads the two had on each feet.

"Hello Jay, Grace, and Lucy! Back from college?" Luke greets as he notices the three of you. "We were just talking with your mother and Zoe here about the possibility of a serial burglar in the neighborhood!"

"They even had the nerve to steal my designer flip-flops!" Eric said with a groan.

"That's exactly what I said!"

"Okay you two, let's not make this any worse than it is," your mum starts before Zoe follows it up with a grumbling, "Because diplomacy always works..."

"Hush you! Ahem. Anyways, we already made a community call to the police, but it seems like it's going to take a while since it appears none of the burglaries actually yielded any results since nothing was damaged or left behind after the thefts." Whitney says with sigh.

"But I can totally assure you," Luke said, hoping to brighten the situation. "A rabbit friend of mine who just joined up with local police department is on the case! He's really good with managing groups and investigations, so hopefully we can find out who caused all this!" he says with buck toothed smile. Eric wraps an arm around his hip and kisses him on his furry cheek at the statement, cooing his calm personality.

"In the meantime, why don't you come inside for a foot massage? We used to train in foot therapy and it looks like all of you could use some help with those worn feet!" Eric offers, gesturing to all of your feet.
