You make your way downstairs for breakfast and sit down at the table, morning chatter was mostly the weeks plans, mum telling you all that she wants the kids out of the house while she has her book club over on Friday.
You think on what to do Friday and an idea comes to mind of having a double date with Jake and Kristi, you just needed to ask them both and Kate about it, breakfast comes to an end and you and your sisters start getting yourself changed and ready for college except for Zoe who went into the living room to watch TV.
Once dressed you head down to the hall to grab your shoes when you notice that they weren’t where you left them, you then notice the entire shoe rack was empty.
“Hey you seen my shoes?” you call out.
Lucy and Grace come over to get their shoes on but look confused as they find the empty rack much like you did a few moments ago.
“Yeah all the shoes are missing” Lucy says.
“I got those shoes last week” Grace says annoyed.
Your mum steps in “did you all take them off somewhere else?” she asks.
“Nope they were all here last night after we finished with the picnic” you say certain you all left your shoes there.
You didn’t have much time to moan about the lack of footwear, you had to get into college to hand in your recent assignment, you decide to just forgo shoes for the day and grab a new pair on your way back home.
“I’ll get us some new shoes today” your mum says as Grace and Lucy both grumble heading out to college bare foot.
“OK I don’t care if they are cheap, I just need something on my feet” you say before heading off out to college.
When you get to college you are approached by a few students asking if you were OK, obviously they had noticed your lack of shoes, you were at least glad to be wearing socks, you assure the students that ask you that everything is just fine.
You get to class and sit in your seat, you set your bag down in front of your legs covering your feet from view, the class files in slowly with Kate sitting down next to you.
“I heard you lost your shoes did someone mug you?” Kate asks.
“No, I don’t know what happened, woke up this morning all the shoes in the house were missing” you say keeping your voice down.
Mrs Stillglass enters the room and begins the lesson, you hand in your assignment as she moves around the class to collect them all, as she moves to her desk and sits down, she begins the days lesson.
It was a boring lesson and you struggled to focus on doing the work, you hated all the stuff she taught you but this was really boring stuff, soon the bell rings and the lesson comes to an end and Mrs Stillglass stands up.
“Class we’re going to be taking a trip to the museum this week, so no classes are planned for Thursday, so make sure to pencil that in to remind you, attendance is mandatory” she says knowing that a few would likely ditch.
A chorus of groans fill the class as students express their disappointment you included, you pack your things back into your bag and stand up noticing Kate slipping her trainers into her bag, you look down to see she is in socks just like you.
“Just so you don’t feel alone on this” she says with a smile before you both leave class.
You and Kate decide to just relax together between classes you couldn’t do much in socks, you continued to get glances from students but you knew they’d just soon ignore it like they normally do with something strange.
“I hope Lucy and Grace are doing alright bare foot” you say to Kate.
“They went bare foot?” Kate asks.
You nod your head “yeah they often wore flip flops during this time of the year” you say.
Kate nods and resumes cuddling up to you before the bell rings signaling the next lesson.
“Come on time for our next class” you say hopping up with Kate.
You both head off to your next lesson.
