Hidden Mouse Village

added by HyperactiveKitten 4 years ago AR S

It was a long journey to get to your new home. You couldn't remember most of it. You were an infant again and you got tired quite easily. It could have been hours or it could have been days, you really couldn't remember. There were a few times you had been woken up my your new mom who had fed you a mix of berry juice but you couldn't even recall how many times that had happened.

Eventually you reached the village that would become your new home. The village was in a grassy field hidden on the outskirts of the forest. There was no sign of human civilization for miles... Well miles from your point of view. Who knows, maybe there was one just a hundred feet away. But the grass in the area had to be at least a foot tall! Far taller than your little body, or even your new mouse parents. Even if there were normal sized humans passing through they would have been hard pressed to see the little village.

As for the village itself. It was something of a facsimile of what you might consider a normal small human village. But the construction was obviously quite a bit different due to the sheer difference in scale between mice and humans. The grass had for the most part been cleared out where houses and other buildings were built, but that meant there was always a wall of grass surrounding the entire place. As for the houses of themselves... Many looked like large rocks that had been hollowed out, caves carved beneath the roots of dead trees, or wooden structures with leaf roofs.

Quite a few people were staring as you entered the village again. You realized they were specifically staring at you. In a town full of mice you were the odd one out. You may have been shrunk down to their size but you were still clearly a human. You found yourself instinctually clinging to your new mother's fur and avoiding their gazes.

"Awwww, don't worry." Your mother rubbed a hand through what little hair you had on your head. "They've just never seen humans up close before! They'll think of you as just another mouse in the community soon enough!" You didn't know if you agreed... But it felt nice to be comforted. Part of your mind tried to remind you that you were an adult... And that you weren't supposed to be small... But it was strange. Just being held by your new mom made you feel safe. This wasn't normal but... It wasn't entirely unpleasant. And after all... She hadn't put you in this situation. That had been those people at the zoo... If anything your new parents had taken you away from them.

While you pondered these thoughts your parents arrived at their own house. It was a tree stump that had died out a long time ago. Judging by the size it hadn't been very old either. Your mom carefully held you to her chest as she ducked underneath the stumps roots and pushed aside a small rock revealing a path inside.

The inside of the stump was hollow, and it made for a spacious home. The entire place was decorated with crudely carved wooden furniture. Some of it would have been more evenly built if someone had carved it with their teeth! You paused at that thought and looked up at your parents noticing their large bucked teeth. Perhaps the furniture was tooth carved!

There was a second floor inside the stump that you were carried up. The house was divided into multiple rooms... But they didn't have doors, just archways separating them. You were carried through one into what you could only assume was your room or a nursery. Inside was a crib built from twigs that your mother gently laid you in. The bed of leaves at the bottom of the crib were surprisingly soft! You looked up noticing that someone had hung a mobile from the ceiling consisting of dried acorns and small carvings of mice dangling from it.

"You're home." Your mother spoke. As she did your father joined her at the side and placed one paw around her shoulder. They both looked down at you with nothing but affection.

You were a little self conscious. They meant well, but you were still aware that you were an adult! But now you were a tiny mouse sized baby! And you were laying their naked! And you had a sneaking suspicion that wasn't about to change. Neither your parents nor any of the mice you passed in the village had worn anything resembling clothing. It was unlikely they had concept modesty. And why would they? They were covered in fur. But that still left you feeling rather embarrassed.

But... There wasn't a whole lot you could do now. You were just a helpless newborn. It seemed you had no choice but to accept your new life and try to make the best of it.

At least mom and dad seemed nice... Maybe growing up in this mouse village wouldn't be so bad. You felt yourself growing sleepy again as your eyes came to a close.
