Animalia Magazine: Easter Edition

added by makutamon 4 years ago O

The April edition of Animalia Magazine had been delayed a little with all the big news from around the world, but that was because there was a relatively new article in the magazine which also showed the optimistic side of one of the writers.

---

The Cover Couple was Bunni and Rockwall. Their article was less "sexual" than some expected because it was mainly about how Bunni and Rockwall came together.

But there was also an article about the origins of several symbols of Easter, similar to several holiday issues of Animalia Magazine, with the origins of some more surprising than others. They also included recipes of common Easter dishes, including Animalian-safe versions.

---

Because of the burning of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, the article featuring the news about the burning also optimistically stated that "a little misfortune can be good for something." While this might seem surprising at first, the article talked about a similar cathedral in London being hit by a Nazi firebomb during WWII. When the time came to do the "clean-up" those who were in charge of the restoration found the remains of seven similar cathedrals on the same site, as well as an ancient Roman road, and a charnel house from one of the famous epidemics of London.

The same article talked about one of the more important finds in the middle east. During the cleanup in the aftermath of reclaiming territory from ISIS, the remains of an ancient Assyrian palace was found. Not only that, it was found to belong to king Sennacherib, who had an important hand in the history of Israel, apart from Babylon.

The article, in closing, spoke confidently of the successful rebuilding and rededication of the Notre Dame cathedral, and what archaeological finds might be found during the rebuilding, although nothing would be "set in stone", as the article joked.

There was also an article that talked about the most well known of the curses in the world: the Curse of the Pharaohs. It was because, during her wintering in Egypt, Venus had made a made-for-television spoof movie about said curse. It was shown at the Easter Dinner banquet before it officially aired on television.

The movie Venus made involved a fan that had, supposedly, been stolen from Ahmose II's tomb. It had ended up being purchased by a female noble in Cairo who suddenly took ill and died, then was followed an explanation of what the Curse of the Pharaohs was, and the most famous victims of said curse.

As said female noble was being carried away from her place of death, Venus (who had been eating a fish sandwich during learning about the famous curse) discovered a piece of feather from the "cursed" fan and picked it up with the wrapper from the sandwich. Then the archaeologist who picked up the fan suddenly fell ill and was taken to the hospital.

When Venus checked her pockets before turning in, she found the feather piece and suddenly realized, 'I came into contact with this, how come I'm not dead?'. She took the piece to a lab and put it under a microscope. Underneath the microscope, there was some strange black lines on the feather, which a nearby scientist identified as mold.

With the right diagnosis, they were able to save the archaeologists life. But when he inquired about the curse, Venus was able to clarify what it was.

"It wasn't a curse. It was a perfectly normal, but very deadly, mold." After that, it was explained what the Curse of the Pharaohs was, most likely exposure to deadly molds and bacteria that "cling" to ancient mummies and their possessions, which is why real archaeologists don't enter a sealed tomb for two days after opening it, and never shave, among other precautions. But what made it both funny and scary at the same time was the appearance of a fabricated "mummy head" made of silicone rubber with an accompanying screech at the very end as a jump scare, followed by the words Ahmose II Lives!. That last part was also an advertisement for Ahmose II's exhibit at the Cairo Museum.

When the movie appeared on TV later, as well as on iTunes, reviews declared it a critical success. Not only did it help separate fact from fiction, but everyone, especially those who prefer horror movies, liked the jump scare at the end.

The magazine also talked about the upcoming IAC, including the founding of Dinosaur City, and the most famous inaugural "grudge match" of the Mesozoic Fight Club: Indominus Vs. Spinosaurus. It also included many myths and misconceptions that the Jurassic Park seemed to perpetuate, and the truth behind each and every one of them.

It also talked about how the Spiny Tyrannosaur, which was the species that Heather had inadvertently created/brought back to life, was similar enough to the regular Tyrannosaur to be named as a subspecies of Tyrannosaur. It also talked about how T-Rexes (and subsequently Spiny T-Rexes) would very rarely, if at all, come into contact with Spinosaurus do to the different environments they preferred as territories.

It also included a piece of artwork that showed a Spiny Tyrannosaur doing battle with "historically accurate" cavemen. It was determined to be really funny due to the fact that everyone now knew that cavemen didn't exist at the same time as dinosaurs, especially since the name of the artwork was, "What's wrong with this picture?"

Ling, among others, was really interested in this magazine. So she was able to get a digital subscription, as well as access to the previous editions of Animalia Magazine. Mr. Hyun had to work hard to show that he wasn't interested in the magazine, even though he was. This seemed to validate the magazine's existence.
