Over the next few years Humans tried everything to achieve the unity the aliens claimed was so good. It wasn’t easy. There were many wars. Many people died. Many more were killed or oppressed. It took decades. Some governments even started using mind control, or created hive minds. Others used genetics to remove diversity. Some even started adding animal DNA to humans. Or increasing animal intelligence to human levels. Everyone had their own ideas of what Unity truly meant. Ironically more wars started due to conflicting ideas of the vague instructions by a mysterious higher power. Unsurprisingly new religions came about worshiping the aliens, and even more conflict started over even more ideas that were rejected or went through.
However one German scientist (or what was left of Germany after their war with the West Russian hive mind) decided he finally had the solution. He invited a compound he called “Formula A”. How it would work was the potion would break down a hosts cells and turn them all into flexible stem cells. Those cells could create more Formula A by them selves, and absorb more cells from other living beings. The stem cells would be controlled by the life form, to suit the needs to adapt to any circumstance. Essentially, the doctors plan was to turn all life on Earth into one giant being.
He pitched the idea to his colleagues. Most were skeptical, however the alternative forms of unity were: Joining the West Russian Hive mind, the France machine mind, the British Gene clones, the American furry resistance, or whatever the Japanese were doing on their island nation. So reluctantly they agreed to the scientists plan as they had very few alternatives.
They each stood in a circle and drank a vial of the untested Formula A, including the scientist himself.
Immediately their bodies were racked with intense pain, their clothes were ripped off as they experienced the worse pain in any of their lives. Skin melted and stuck together. Their nerves blazed then died and healed. Their bodies fused completely till none could even tell who was who any more. Not even the scientist them selves as their members blended together in a whirlpool of pain and laughter.
Soon the scientists were no more. There was only a being that classified itself as a success and that’s all that mattered.
It left the lab in search of more biomass to consume, it wouldn’t stop until everyone and everything was a part of it.

The creature consumed all in its path. Everyone would soon be part of of it’s consequences.
It offered armies a chance to join it or die. At the start most chose to die instead of joining the abomination of mouths, temporarily eyes, and tentacles. But the creature was impossible to beat. With each conflict the life form grew stronger while its enemies grew weaker. It even devised a way to finally consume its dead enemies. All life would one day merge with it. Even the dead.
Armies tried bargaining with it to not consume it. But all it wanted was their biomass, and in some cases the creature even convinced armies to join it willingly. Siting that it had already consumed so much, what’s stopping it from consuming them now was really itself as a particularly favorite tactic.
The creature wiped out all other attempts at unity away, leaving only it self as the true hear to the plan of unity.
The West Russian hive mind was broken, it’s soldiers and citizens left alone and confused and only seeking orders that would never come. Eventually orders did come. They were to join their comrades in The Life Form, and become part of it willingly. None resisted as they all marched single file into its great open mouths. Becoming one of many countless others.
Next it went after the France Machine Mind. This was the easiest to defeat, however surprisingly the Life Form took its hard drive that contained all those that it consumed. And integrated it into its flesh. Merging its nerves with the many wires of the machine, allowing the minds of both the machine and biological to interact as one in the Life Forms great bio/ machine brain.
The British Gene Clones took the longest to defeat, however their endless supply of bodies only made the Life Form stronger, as entire formations became nothing more than fuel for the ever encroaching Life Forms unstoppable biomass.
After many centuries the Life Form had consumed all life on the eastern continents, and set its site on the west, that so far had been trying and failing to nuke it from a distance.
The creature consumed many whales in zoo’s, and set forth through the Atlantic following their own methods of propulsion like a massive leviathan of skin and metal.
It reached the shores of Washington DC. And offered a chance for the capital to join them. They refused and launched an attack on the Life Form. Humans and former humans worked with animals and former animals alike. The display was touching to the creature as anthro men and women worked alongside their lesser evolved but still just as intelligent counterparts.
But it wasn’t enough to stop the content sized Life Form from consuming all life. Still, it would remember the former US’s valiant resistance along side the Japanese for all time for how inspirational it was to move many of its hearts.
And that was it. One life form. Earth was a life less wasteland, with towering identical mega structures. And completely barren of all that could be called life, except for one mountain bigger than Everest of flesh, fur, scales, tentacles, and vines that moved through the rubble.
It waited, and waited. And waited more.
Nothing.
More nothing.
It was alone, not alone, it had it self, it’s countless, yet also singular self.
Eventually it grew tired of waiting and began to create. Millions and billions of minds working together, creating art and science one thought nothing more than sci-fi. Ideas were put in place and resources were gathered at their source. The Life Form dug great Pitts in the Earths crust and explored the farthest reaches, and deepest points of the ocean. The Life Form found new unknown species in the deepest parts of its homes oceans, then consumed them taking their features for it self.
It made monuments of precious materials in honor of the greatest minds and hero’s among it self. And in honor of those who resisted merging with it to the very end. As well as those it couldn’t consume. Those lost and forgotten.
It made these statues in their honor, and would often visit them to maintain them, and remind itself of what it once was.
After thousands of years alone creating and inventing, the aliens from so long ago finally returned to check on Earths progress at unifying all life...
