Prologue-
In a few years...
It was a normal day. People went about their lives. Hm, more terror in the middle east, more politicians arguing about the proper way to deal with it. Controversy at home as personal freedoms conflict with society norms. Religious zealots trying to talk sense into an apathetic nation. Growing dangers in the East, and the list goes on, and on, and on.
Suddenly, a blip at the Jefferson Deep Space monitoring station. And closer, at the new Phenos monitoring station with satellites orbiting Pluto. And closer yet, as the automated construction crews on the Luna-Mars station initial skeleton report something moving closer. Within a month, the president has called a meeting.
Walking in, she nods to everyone. Not a single person cancelled, this was an important meeting. What they know, is a large celestial body is moving closer to Earth, definitely fighting the wells of gravitational pull to remain on course to Earth. It's speed varying, defying the normal physics of a comet or any other known source, yet none of the satellites have been able to get a solid picture of the object. It definitely has an energy trail, and has a rounded point. The head of science labs fifty through seventy five steps forward. Proclaiming the answer is obvious, he stuns the others into shock. "It's extra-terrestial life! Won't you all see it, aliens are coming to Earth." After a moment of silence, the president stands up. "We'll have to act on this."
In no less the a week. The aliens made contact with Earth. Flying low over the Indian Ocean, they were able to hijack every frequency, even broadcasting onto the internet. They broadcast a message of peace. They are just one of thousands of races. They offer ends to diseases, new worlds to call our own for colonization, as well as joint worlds to meet and live with the alliance. An end to needless death, wars, famine, disease. Such a wonderful bliss, but there is a catch. We have not achieved our own sense of enlightenment, our presence in such an alliance would be disruptive, dangerous, and disastrous. They expressed to us a message, that we had to unite. No more seperate countries, no more feuding religions. And the biggest shock, was how the aliens expressed how we must also unite the species of our world. Animals and humans alike, must be able to coexist without bloodshed, without overlapping. The humans' tendency to steamroll their animal counterparts with little to no concern of the animals will also hurt the alliance, as some members are simple animals at first glance, but contribute to the great picture. They offered all the proof to prove this was no trick, since no country even questioned their come, just a few nuts who claimed the apocolypse was nigh. In hindsight, maybe they were right.
With that, they left. No deadline. No sign of the aliens on any viewing system, no advice on how we were to complete this end. No technology nor insight on how to achieve Unification.
