You've bought from this store before so you know that these magic items really work. You also know to be very careful with them because careless use can lead to disaster and the store owner charges a minimum of $200.000 to fix your mistakes and that's only if the mistake is something minor like turning your dick into a dildo. But you've learned your lesson so now, as you walk the aisles looking at all the different artifacts, you don't even want to touch most of them. Some might be fun for a cheap laugh but then $200.00 to undo it would be a high price for a cheap laugh. No, you are looking for something that would be good for more than just a cheap laugh.
You pass several gender changing artifacts. You are gay and you lust after Chad so the idea of changing yourself into a woman is intriguing but you know that you don't actually want to be a woman. You want Chad but you also want to do guy things. You don't want to wear dresses and you don't want to have to lug around big jugs on your chest. You might come back to this section though to take a second look at the stick-on vagina.
You also pass on several options for putting Chad under your control. You could turn Chad into a dog boy but that would alter Chad's magnificent body. You could turn Chad into a robot but making love to a metal man isn't really your thing. You keep coming back to this store looking but not finding what you really want.
Today, you decide to look at some of the more expensive items that they keep under lock and key in the display counters. You've been saving up your money but avoiding those counters until you knew you had enough. You didn't want to get yourself hooked on something that you weren't sure you'd be able to afford.
Still, a lot of these more expensive items don't interest you but you do find one item called The Soul Ripper. You read the description:

It just renders the enemy incapable of resisting you. It is highly recommended that you store any soul you steal in something like an animal or an object. If you release the soul, they immediately reinhabits their body and can attack you. People who used this in war time typically carried a sack full of trinkets to store the souls in. To place a soul inside something, touch that something with the garnet where the soul is temporarily kept. Whatever the garnet touches first is where the soul will go but if the soul isn't stored within approximately ten minutes, they will escape from the garnet. You can judge how long you have to store a soul because The Soul Ripper will sing a ten minute long medieval melody in Latin whenever a soul is inside the garnet. You may transfer a soul from one object to another using the claw to grab the soul and using the garnet to put the soul into storage."
This is what you want. You want to take Chad's soul out of his body and store him somewhere. You also think about ripping Katie's soul out of her but for different reasons. Katie doesn't like you and you don't like her. You don't want her body but it would be nice to put her soul inside something. You ask the shop keeper about The Soul Ripper.
"We are not in the business of selling weapons. The only reason we are selling The Soul Ripper is because it can be used for fun purposes. You could put your friend in the body of a bird so he can enjoy flying or you could put your friend in the body of a fish so he could explore some deep underwater cave. We don't mind you using it for a little mischief, some harmless practical joke, but if we find you intentionally used it to kill someone, we will come after you."
You say, "I didn't even know this thing could kill. I thought it just stored souls."
"If you put your friend's body in a bird and the bird dies, your friend dies and his body rots. If you put your friend in a glass trinket and smash that trinket into a million pieces, your friend dies and his body rots. One has to have some mastery of magic to even work at a magic shop and I have enough magic that I can partially read your intentions. I don't know exactly what you plan but I noticed that your aura jumped sharply when I mentioned your friends body rotting. You care a great deal about his body. I'm not so sure you care about your friends soul but I can assure you this, without a soul, the body rots. You can separate the soul from the body without harming the body but if the soul is harmed, the body is harmed."
You say, "I do not wish to harm his soul. May I buy The Soul Ripper please?"
The shop keeper stares through you for a while analyzing your aura. "Very well but only if you sign a magic contract. This contract will magically enforce itself causing you to commit yourself to protecting the souls you take and to protecting The Soul Ripper from being used to kill."
You say, "Okay, I'll sign."
The shop keeper holds up his hand which starts glowing as he says, "From this time forward until you return The Soul Ripper to safe keeping, if any soul taken by The Soul Ripper is harmed, you will feel the pain." The glow fades.
You say, "Wait a minute, do you mean that I will feel everything the soul feels?"
The shop keeper says, "No. You will only feel pain if a soul is harmed. There is a difference between harm and pain. If you stub your toe, you feel pain but you aren't harmed. Souls don't have toes but if a soul does the equivalent of stubbing their toe, you won't feel it or notice it but if one of the taken souls bleeds, you will feel that."
This makes sense and still allows you to proceed with your plan. You just have to make sure Chad's soul is kept somewhere safe.
