James and Mikhail, the two regular senior boys at the center of Charlie's bet with the other hotel staff, were sound asleep when the Giggle Gas began to work its changes on them. James was a serious student and although he treated all his fellow classmates kindly, his obsession with fantasy videogames and obscure movies made him the perfect target for Eric's bullying over the years. The fact that his poor vision required him to wear glasses since elementary school hadn't helped, although he'd quickly swapped them for contacts once he'd reached high school. James was thrilled to be in ToonWorld and was genuinely looking forward to writing his essay about the place, although he hadn't decided what to focus upon quite yet.
Deep in a dream about his favorite game, the pleasant tingling that started in James's feet only caused him to laugh softly. First one foot, then the other, slowly began to lengthen centimeter by centimeter. Rather than narrowing as they stretched out, James's feet actually began to plump up, the teenager's middle two toes and end toes starting to merge together. Still just a young man, James didn't have much body hair so the grey ink and paint fur that was now sprouting over the tops of his feet really stood out.
In his dream, James had been a warrior wearing large sturdy leather boots but that suddenly felt wrong. No, he wanted to be something smaller, quicker, and more connected with nature. A hobbit perhaps? The idea of going barefoot like a hobbit was suddenly appealing to him. So were their pointed ears. As his ears in the dream began to lengthen and taper so too did his ears in ToonWorld, with the same grey ink and paint fur covering the teen's enormous feet overtaking James's pointy eartips.
Hobbits were nice yet their ears were just too small, James thought to himself. Besides, going barefoot was wonderful but hobbit feet just weren't large or fuzzy enough. He felt the need to be something more...animal. The Acme Giggle Gas was now working to not only change Jame's body -it was also altering his very thoughts and dreams to help him accept his growing toon side. He still wanted to be an adventurer in a fantasy realm but it would be so much nicer and more pleasant to explore that fantasy world when he could feel the soft pine needles from a forest of towering pine trees beneath his furry three-toed feet or perhaps enjoy the chirping of the birds with his large expressive triangular ears. Thinking of this the teen smiled to himself in his sleep, allowing his growing two front incisor teeth to spill out over his bottom lip.
While James's toony changes began to slow, Mikhail's tailbone began to ache as his body was just beginning to transform.
