Craig stood up, eager to join Tessa in the water. He had only pulled his shirt off when Tessa let out a cry of distress and seemed to stagger in the water. Without removing any more of his clothes, Craig rushed in the water to help. He figured she had taken a wrong step and twisted her ankle, but when he got it her it was clearly something more.
"I can't stand!" she said, clearly upset. "My legs have gone numb."
Craig dragged Tessa to shore. As soon as they were out of the water, Craig could see something was wrong. Tessa's legs were discolored. Craig touched Tessa's leg and noticed her skin didn't feel normal.
Tessa though breathed a small sigh of relief. "I can feel your hand, so I'm not paralyzed." Her body convulsed. "What's happening to me?" she said. "One moment I was fine, the next..."
Craig looked over Tessa's legs for some kind of injury, but found nothing. Her toes though...they didn't look normal either.
"As crazy as it sounds, I think your legs are changing somehow" said Craig.
